When adding curtains/window coverings in your house, do you add all of the same thing throughout or should there be different coverings depending on the room?
Hi Emma Each room can be treated differently - like any element of decoration in your home there should be cohesion throughout, that makes the treatments feel they are part of the same home. You want your treatments to take into consideration the functionality (light control, privacy etc), the shape/size of the window, the space around the window, the mood of the room, how the room is used - that will change from room to room so why shouldn’t your window treatments? And this is before getting to the fun part of picking a fabric or design details!

Hi Emma, I largely agree with Decora Custom Interiors, except for one thing. Think about how your house looks from the street - it is generally a good idea to have a similar look to most of the windows facing the street. If you have four windows facing the street, don't have four different window treatments!
Thanks to both of you. Dr Retro, that was my next question, I have three windows facing the street, so I will definitely have to consider that when I make a decision.
Dr Retro, there is no disagreement - the way the house looks from the street (or the back yard, or the sides if highly visible) also forms part of the many aspects I take into considerations (there are just too many for one post!) Hi Emma, There are ways to make treatments look different from inside and look consistent from the street - this is all part of the finer details of my designs and fabrication that make them truly custom. All the best, Louise, Decoro Custom Interiors - Window Treatment Specialist, Sydney.
