Small 'L' Shape living room layout...
Comments (1)Hi Bella, this is very small so storage and minimalism are helpful. I would use a circular table- less of a footprint with more surface area. Nothing on the wall that backs the kitchen- it is a hallway really- perhaps a mirror to create depth as well as interest as you enter the front door. Multi functional furniture- ottoman that doubles as seating and storage, sofa that contains storage or second bed. Worth considering a tall shallow(280mm deep) cabinet behind the sofa- you would get great storage if you had plenty of shelves and only lose 28cm from the overall length of the room. Obviously the lower section is covered, but still useful in such a small space. Custom built cabinet for t.v etc in the recess- go all the way to the ceiling to maximise this obvious space opportunity. Good luck,...See MoreNeed help for my back room rumpus, family room and bedroom layout
Comments (4)Hi Charles, Firstly, I am not a designer or anything but I have just spent over 12 months planning & designing my house so I've looked at heaps of plans & I've done lots of research. This is what I have come up with.. I think you can leave it with the same layout and just extend the wall off the rumpus. Yes it eats in to you bi-fold doors but I have a plan to counteract that & not sacrifice the light & open plan. Using corner stacker doors (much cheaper than bi-fold) will open this space right up to the alfresco area. Not sure what you had planned for this area but if you were planning on having a built in bbq area it could be done on the back of the rumpus room wall (in the space where I extended the wall). I also think you will have more flexibility if you have doors entering the rumpus rather than sliding doors as you can use the wall space without having to worry about the wall cavity. I printed your plan off & had a play so check it out & see what you think. I will not be offended however if you don't like my ideas as its your house & it needs to suit you & your family. All the best with it, I know how hard & stressful it is! Shae...See MoreSmall Apartment Layout Help!
Comments (10)First thing -- colour ! Literally , the only colour is quite an ( IMO ) insipid faded-mustard throw ! Change the rug to red , or orange . The chairs around the existing table -- the same ( red or orange ) . Cushions -- ditto . A big ( 1.2 x 1.5 metre ) abstract picture with 10 colours , with red , orange , yellow , apricot , mustard , pink , light blue , spearmint green , etc -- predominantly a red / orange spectrum though . A mid one two , and a couple maybe 30 x 40 ( one vertical , one horizontal ? ) . I'd even get rid of one couch , and add a classy modern red ( or orange ) square chair . Or sell them as a pair , and get a red leather couch and single ( or two , as that is generally how they are sold as part of a suite ) chair ....See MoreSmall Kitchen Layout - Looking for Input and Help...
Comments (9)@dairy_maid Thank you for your comment! We might not have a range hood since we're probably buying an induction hob with a build in extractor. I'm not sure about option 2 because you wouldn't be able to do the dishes and cook on the induction hob at the same time. The wall on the right is shorter than it is is in the Ikea images I sent over (there's 33cm less wall there), so I feel like it might become too tight in that corner... What do you think of one of these layouts? The kitchen island would maybe be 20-30 centimeters wider, but that still leaves 110cm of walking room around each side. You kinda still have the "Kitchen work triangle" since you can basically acces the induction hob from 3 sides. Also, if picking one of these options, would it be better to put the induction hob on the island or the sink? Option 3 Option 4 Option 5: Shorter isand, with bar stools opposite to each other...See Morevabellc
