Hi Kel B, what a lovely home! I'd recommend doing a long hall runner to replace the rug which is there - and I'd run it from the bottom of the stairs to that lovely console table you have. The Dharma Door have some gorgeous Jute Runners which I think would compliment the timber tones of your stairs and soften the floor beautifully. Let me see if I can attach a link Hall Runner Idea I'd also suggest a large palm of some description in a large pot to sit by the glass panel by the front door at the bottom of the stairs. You may need to move the artwork slightly to the left towards the stairs to accomodate it but I think it would be a worthwhile addition to marry the outdoor greenery with the indoor and from the other end of the hall you will still see the flashes of greenery between the stairs, which would be lovely. I'd maybe bring the console down a few feet so that's it's in the middle of that wall that it's on. i.e centred between that other opening and the end of the wall where is is currenlty. Then, what you could do is put a bench seat on the wall opposite (under the stairs) for putting shoes on an off with some lovely rattan baskets underneath to also hold shoes. Possible with a small indoor plant beside it too. Let me attach some images here for inspo ... Or some hooks on the wall under the stairs to break up that wall? Hi there, I personally don't like the look of that rock wall with your home. It does nothing for it. I would get rid of it, you may even be able to sell the rock for a bit of cash. I would besser block a retaining wall in its place with posts and render this, then use your timber horizontally slated between the posts. Select a paint colour that works nice with your timber colour and carry the colour through to your house. This will also work in with your side timber fence. Also remove all the plants in the front, just because they are lovely doesn't mean they are in the right place or serve a purpose, you may be able to transplant them somewhere else in the yard. Plants: mop tops are a great feature tree and give lots of shade in summer. A hedge along the inside of the fence would look great, Lilly pilly's are good and Japanese box is tough as boots and requires little water once up a bit. Westringia, birds of paradise, hibiscus, viburnum, Murraya all take heat, depends on what look your after. My average temps in summer are 47 degrees and winter -3 & these plants survive. Yes I also agree with a path from the front to the door. Front door to house could have some timber posts added with an awning/patio to make it stand out. The timber would carry through from the front fence. Painting the brick can also give it a lift if you don't want to go modern with render. You could also paint the concrete driveway, there are some snazzy options available for this, plain or stencil. Best of luck! I'm sure it will come up a treat.

Hello. I'm doing renovation whole apartment and also built in wardrobe (hinged door) for two room. We had argue about the internal drawer size for each wardrobe. One wardrobe cabinet internal size is w 1117 x d 600 and second is w 1063 x 510 The builder brought the internal drawers way too smaller than actual size of cabinet. he says that it is how usually doing for hinged door wardrobe. so actual internal size of wardrobe is w 1117 x d 600. the drawer size is 900 x 300. Another wardrobe is w 1063 x 510 and brought 850 x 330 drawers. ( this is all bottom drawers) The problem is that the inside drawer is too small and has a big handle like kitchen drawer. The wardrobe drawer should have no handle as it is inside of wardrobe and need to bigger and fit into actual space of cabinet. The depth of drawer is only half way of actual size of cabinet depth. the width size also about 5 to 12 cm is empty gab between actual wardrobe panels. It is nearly half of actual cabinet space is just empty. Finally the builder admit that the depth size made wrongly as there is about 30 cm empty gab but not the width size so they want to make a deeper drawer but keep width between panel about 5 to 10 cm. The builder says rest space will cover up by the panel and also keep arguing that the drawer is small because they need to give a space for door hinge because this one need to install next to drawers. Door hinge is only 2 cm wide and 2cm depth. I do understand door hinge but still too many space is empty. Therefore, I have asked him to make a drawer for right size of cabinet (make drawer size wider and deeper) and put the door hinge between drawer. But the builder refuse to make new one as they need to make whole new drawers and says that it is standard to keep space between 5 to 10 cm between door, panel and drawer all around and cannot compare with other brand such as ikea or freedom. Simply they said they cannot do it. Also, he argues that I should request make drawer to be back to back size before making. My question is that is true to have gab between 5 to 10 cm between drawers and actual size of cabinet due to door hinge? This should be the custom built in wardrobe.

Thanks Julie, in terms of size, what do you think will be the ideal diameter for the pendant? The wall mounted lights are a great idea but unfortunately we didn't considered that initially - all the plastering and electrical has been already done. Thanks again!
