Comments (15)There's a lot of timber going on here with the floors and the door, I would avoid any more features in this room and add a narrow console as the previous owner did. Just think, you didn't notice the crevice when you viewed the property. A console is easy and inexpensive, it's also functional if you use it for keys etc. Sitting a large plant (or cut flowers if you can manage the upkeep) on the console will add some vibrant colour and the mirror will reflect it adding depth. A few other accessories will help to dress it up. Consider baskets under the console or something similar to hide the crevice and cover the vast mirror. Whatever you decide to do, I'd love to see an after photo!...See MoreAdvice on entrance hall
Comments (16)Your hallway is looking great already Ryan, but we'd of course suggest that a statement artwork would further elevate the 'wow' factor! Here's an example of an artwork that we produced for a client's entrance hall together with their review. A version of this could work very well with your scheme, but art is a very personal choice. If there's something within our collections that resonates with you, just reach out and we can create a piece bespoke to suit. https://www.houzz.com.au/viewReview/216958/signarture-review...See MoreEntrance - advice on pots, plants and doormat please!
Comments (28)Thank you so much for your advice, in particular to bigreader and Julie Herbert. Here's a photo but note Im awaiting all that timber to be removed and daughter yet to sweep up the potting mix. I tried a blue one on each side as well but it didn't look quite right. I actually think 2 on each side might be enough. Note, in the big pot on left is a ground cover that will sprawl and out and done pot all going well. Do you think/Any suggestions for anything else I could do in this area? I'm still getting used to colour of mat. Now for the back door. Ive put some pots there that I had painted a light grey. Im wondering if they dont provide enough contrast with deck. Your thoughts? I was going to put a buxus in the one on the right (purely because they're are numerous in garden I can poach)....See MoreStyling advice needed for a living room/entrance please
Comments (12)I might be a bit late to the party, but have you thought about putting the TV on the long wall and the lounge facing the tv, creating a bit more of an entrance way? You could still have the sofa table behind the lounge to put keys etc. Space permitting, that could also allow for a separate zone for reading, perhaps putting books along the wall where the tv is now, with a comfortable chair and a lamp etc. There are a few ideas here: https://www.houzz.com.au/magazine/no-entryway-create-the-illusion-of-one-stsetivw-vs~26568992...See MoreHila H
