needing ideas, how to finish this room & keep it classey
Comments (22)I think you have a great beginning. The first layer is in, but it feels cold and clinical, very generic. So here are a few ideas. 1- English Country- add indigo blue and light blue and mid tone blue for a classic blue and white scheme. Use a few soft pink roses or peonies for a warm accent. Floral landscapes over the furniture. 2-Italian Contemporary-add a red and black striped rug, black and white framed photos, red pillows, black accents in lamps, coffee table, and place mats. 3- all white look, add highly textured white rug, white accessories , black and white photos and a fresh flower bouquet of wild colors that change weekly. White textured placemats changing...See MoreIdeas for my living room
Comments (16)Love some of your furniture Dave. Maybe the large mirrored dresser could move to the wall with the clock and tv. The lounge could spin so it's back was facing the large window ( but not up against it). The chair could stay where it is, just moved to the right of the door, and the Tv, cabinet and clock could move to the wall where the large mirrored dresser is now....See MoreHelp - Renovation ideas for an existing living room
Comments (15)The free-standing wood-burning stove is an option for repurposing the existing fireplace. Just be sure to have chimney swept prior to any flue installation. An installer will likely request this. It is for fire safety and it makes their job easier. Other option would be to have gas plumbed to the location and a gas insert fireplace. As you mentioned a preference for lighter timber flooring, you could take a look at the various oaks available....See MoreNeed help to finish the living room

Anchor the space with a soft grey textured or patterned rug - Armadillo have some great textured designs, but make sure its large enough to go under the sofa. Add some nesting tables with mirror tops to the side of the sofa, more graphic prints alongside the existing one (with some solid colour and vary the sizes), a fab floor lamp with some wow factor, more plump cushions in grey and white and a statement easy chair. Why not consider an old art deco chair (see photo) and have it recovered it an art deco inspired print that reflects your personality? ....See MoreSabrina Alfin Interiors
