Comments (16)Love all the wonderful comments above. The only thing I would add is: really consider what you want to use this room for... What do you want the room to do? Welcoming guests? If it is welcoming, then think about what makes you feel welcomed when you walk in - that ahhhh feeling.....maybe plants (a bonsai project would work well in that light), some family photos instead of a mirror, coat hanger behind door, buffet table (where you stand your G&T chrystal set on a nice sliver tray). Or is it a Staging ground for getting out the door? Then perhaps the mirror, some sort of rack for bags & hats etc, a bench for sitting and putting on shoes, cork board for reminders etc (it is possible to have these all behind a thin closet so closed doors hide any clutter). Whatever you choose, I just find it helpful to keep the rooms purpose in mind....See MoreHelp me with a design
Comments (20)i think your house is currently a blank canvas-its what you put in there that will define your style. good luck-you have already been given some great ideas-now its a matter of trial and error. also check out this houzz article https://www.houzz.com.au/magazine/hallway-design-opportunities-you-may-have-missed-stsetivw-vs~51398179?utm_source=Houzz https://www.houzz.com.au/magazine/authentic-french-style-advice-direct-from-france-stsetivw-vs~45199228?utm_source=Houzz...See MoreHow to style my entry?
Comments (15)I like it as is. I'd maybe consider a feature pendant light (or three) in the "void" above the stairs going down, but with the unique ceiling I don't think it needs it. Maybe a piece of art on the upstairs wall that is directly opposite the entry door. Something abstract / simple so that it looks nice when viewed from a distance (i.e. the front door). Otherwise, is there anything you *need* in the entry? For example, a bench or stool to put on and remove shoes? A small table to place mail, keys, sunglasses, etc. Some hooks for umbrellas, coats, hats, etc? A mirror to double-check your appearance before you leave the house?...See MoreDining room
Comments (25)Such a great space! In the kitchen I'd add a couple of tonal/textural/timber pieces to soften the slick, cool tones - Kmart have some great marble trays & utensil holders, small ceramic canister ( I put salt in mine) coupled with a nice timber board as a little vignette in the corner. IKEA timber tablet holder as a recipe book holder. lounge room is great with those windows. I'd put some IKEA Besta white units along the far wall. 3 or so the full length of the wall looks almost like joinery (and easy for next time you move!) provides great storage which is often rare in rentals, put your TV on top on the far left side, then some lovely candles/pot plant etc arranged on the other. Then get a really large framed print and stand it on this propped against the wall, or if you're allowed to hang pictures (I never was, even with 3M hooks!), a large rectangular mirror would open up the space and reflect even more light from the adjacent windows. If you hate the carpet (personally I don't think you'll notice it much when all your things are in!) you could always put a nice rug. Id go a lighter grey couch as dark colours will suck the light out of the room a bit. Place it with its back to the wall, facing the windows, with perhaps a chaise on the far end. Then a nice tan or rattan armchair (again IKEA!) to add interest. Then a oval or round coffee table as the room is a bit of a thoroughfare, it flies better to walk around or even a couple of smaller round side tables instead can also be handy to move around when you have guests. Then put a few pot plants outside the windows to make it even prettier to look out onto. Just stick to neutral colours for your ticket and consider how easy they are to move for each time you move into a new place. Then go to town on an amazing statement lamp or floor lamp, a few cushions in patterns and tones to liven it up, add some cool lucite family photos and indoor plants. enjoy!!...See MoreCynthia Abbott
