King or Queen for the Master Bedroom?
Comments (25)I personally love a king size in a master but they can look too big in some rooms. This may be the case here too, especially with your chosen bed. However as long as you have enough room to move around it you will be comfortable in that regard. If you were to go king I would suggest looking at a bed with just a bed head or a separate bed head with ensemble as this will not dominate the room room to much and make it feel smaller. Then find side tables that are floating or light in structure with open legs so you can see through to the wall. Good luck...See MoreBed room make over
Comments (1)Hi Filippa, If your keen to go for a soft yellow, I'd actually advise steering towards a warm light cream colour as it'll give you more scope with colours and you can dress the colour up or down depending upon your accessories. I would remove that corner unit and strip everything out of the room that you can (amazing what not seeing something in a room can do for visual style vs trying to visualize something not being there). Take the measurements of the furniture and work out if you've got enough space for a bigger bed and if you do go for a bigger bed, avoid anything with a frame that comes up at the foot of the bed as it'll close your room in and make it seem tighter than it is. I'd have the ALL of the furniture painted warm white and if you keep your current bed, remove the footboard at the bottom of the bed (as it visually impacts on your room - and if you're anything like me - gives you somewhere other than the wardrobe to hang clothes). Change the handles on your furniture to be in the same style - personally, I'd change them to crystal knobs so that you bring in a feminine bit of bling. If it's possible, I'd remove the shelf at the back of your computer table, hang the monitor on the wall and look into corner floating shelves in that corner - this way the computer table can double as a bedside table for your alarm clock. On the wall above your bed, I'd look into either getting a print or doing your own abstract artwork that ties in soft whites, soft yellows and other pastles and have that in a white frame. Go for bed linen/bedspread/doona cover in white and then bring in your creams and pale yellows with soft cushions on your bed (you could even add texture in the form of sequins, synthetic furs, broderie anglaise and satin if you like - and if you can sew you can do it yourself very cheaply)....See MoreCompact bedroom built-in robe layout
Comments (12)Here is the rest of the floorplan oklouise. The built-in in Bed 2 is 600mm and in Bed 3 is 550mm, and this space is in addition to the measurements on the plan. Walls could be moved about, but we need to be able to live-in during renovations. Also the slightly wider section of hallway adjacent to Bed 3 acts as the main entrance so it really needs to remain at its current width to be practical. The 'study' is more of a study-nook in an extension of the hallway leading to a detached garage and workshop, so that is why there is a external door. Thanks for any ideas you can offer....See Moretwo bedrooms two baths or three beds, one bath?
Comments (21)Kate's idea of using the pantry space is an excellent suggestion as a toilet can comfortable fit within 800 x 800 alcove with the end opening towards the bathroom and closing the extra door from the laundry toilet could allow enough space to squeeze in an extra handbasin but please double check all the dimensions ..measured from wall to wall the bathroom has to be more than 1200 x 2, the laundry more than 1200 x 2 and the toilet size isn't right or there wouldn't be enough space to open any of the doors??...See MoreSabrina Alfin Interiors
