EASY INSTALLATION

LIGHTWEIGHT

One of the key benefits of building with aluminium is its lightweight composition. Hollow aluminium profiles are available in large extrusion and therefore specified without any excessive weight. The density of timber varies but it can be harder to install and require extra labour due to its weight. Aluminium’s lightweight advantage results in substantial reductions in installation times and labour costs.

ONSITE CUTTING

Due to aluminum being lightweight and thin, it can be easily cut down into any length required for your project. Are you considering cutting your own aluminum? The answer is you should. It will benefit you and your project (i.e. Decking) and is as easy as cutting timber. All you need is a mitre or drop saw with an aluminium blade, and some protective gear.

Did you know…DecoSplash splashbacks can be delivered cut-to-size, however DECO recommends cutting your splashback on site to allow for adjustments that may be required. Aluminium blades on a circular saw is ideal for cutting long cuts and a metal cutting blade on jig saw is suitable for cuts outs. From there your splash is easily installed with an adhesive.

The next time I decorate by a colour of the year will be the first time. Don't hold your breath. I have nothing against this particular colour but it doesn't work with all the things I've collected over the years, and I am not about to discard carpets bought after hard bargaining with dubious merchants in Istanbul or Islamabad because they don't "go" with a paint colour that someone voted "colour of the year." In its place, I think the colour would be quite nice (better than this years choices, certainly). It's just that my place isn't the right place for it.

Suzineedsahouse, what is the era or character of the house you have moved into, because perhaps that will influence design style regardless of size? Also, if you have been knocking out walls is it likely to be more open plan?? I moved from a small 1960's era granny flat into an as-small Art Deco 1940's apartment and found I went with more classic furniture with the second place because it just suited the aesthetic of high ceilings, floorboards, wide skirting boards, fireplace, ceiling roses etc. Having said that, I live in a block of 6 apartments, and I have seen the other apartments decked out completely differently (all of similar layout), from really modern, to mid-century, also one with a real retro art vibe, and they all looked great and seemed to suit the space fine. So maybe go with your taste in the end??

I had a 2nd hand lovely resort style lounge (cane with fabric) which quickly became pulled and tatty after my 2 small dogs had been using it. The leather lounge & two large leather recliners I have show no damage (regardless of long or clipped nails) and both pets love these. Having a blanket the dogs know is theirs is a great idea especially with leather, as the initial cold feeling of leather means both dogs only want to be on the blanket.
