HELP WITH MISSING RANGEHOOD

Sorry in advance to bring up an old thread/subject,However looking for any additional advice/direction i can get on comment from midesign0401 below...

In Victoria a range hood is a requirement in new kitchens. No longer is it acceptable for a simple exhaust unit, rather it must now be ducted to external air. So your range hood must be flued either through your roof space or via a horizontal duct to an external wall. It must be installed and signed off, and your house insurance will require your sign off document if your house insurance is to cover damage due to fire, or you will find yourself in a predicament. The provision for installing a range hood above a gas cooktop is a minimum placement of 650mm above your cooktop, and 605 for an electric hob. Including induction. Hope this helps.

Our new home got handed over to us by builder just before Christmas (21/12/2018),

We are still waiting for under mount rangehood to be installed into our kitchen,

The house was delivered with no rangehood as the hole they provided was to close to accommodate rangehood selection,

After a couple of visits we have been told that cupboards are to be removed and replaced,

Which we are still waiting for as the 'cabinetmaker is very busy',

My inquiry is to see whether there is a building code reference/link

I can forward on to them to hurry the process up,

Also concerned that insurance would not cover our new house if there happened to be a fire

We have a glass rangehood similar to Futuro Futuro's Acqualina Glass product and I love it. The top and bottom of the glass gets given a clean about once a week with citrus multi-purpose cleaning spray and then wiped down with a moistened glass cleaning cloth for a pristine finish. Takes around 5 minutes in total. Cleaning the brushed stainless part is more difficult. As mentioned previously, its hard to remove all the marks. Will definately try the WD40. Me, personally, I don't like the mirrored finish. Given the window is acting as the "splashback" I would have gone for something invisible like what Sheryl Horton showed.

lyndalcrombie, you are most welcome, I was a bit worried when you felt you needed to be defensive about your likes and dislikes. As I said I got allot out of your post, as I too am building and have themes and colours racing through my head and if I had any doubts about picking a colour, this forum has helped me enormously especially the informative comments on other Houzz forums from both Midesign0401 and Ladyrob1. Together they have helped me choose colours that will work for "ME" as that's the only person that has to be happy ultimately, "ME", not wanting to leave hubby out of the mix but he couldn't care less about colours and themes, I mean, most men don't care, as long as they have their chair and the remote ha-ha.....thank goodness we still have to buy all our lounge furniture, or hubby would want to take the ugly old thing he's sitting on at present, thank goodness it's not particularly comfortable, or I'd have buckleys of keeping it out of the house ha-ha Enjoy your house!!

Hi Sam, I use whispair with external motor 2100 m^3/hr with flexible duct for a single story house. Performance is quite fine with wok cooking, however it is not that whisper quiet at maximum extraction. If you want high volume extraction, there will be a good amount of air noise. Quite a fir bit of audible noise in the room comes from flexible ducting right after the hood. As far as I understand, rigid ducting would be a bit more quiet, but it may also bring in noise from the fan. For two storeys, fan noise may not travel back that much. But definitely rigid ducting will improve extraction performance for long ducting. If the ducting is really long, you could also add another inline motor along the way. Qasair twin motor is similar, if not a touch more quiet. So perhaps, look at Qasair, or other brands with external motor (Schweigen, Whispair, Sirius) with rigid ducting.
