20-Year-Old Bathroom Transformation - Before & After

All of the bathrooms in this project were original – so about 20 years old – and they were wearing out. The shower leaked in the ensuite, and the bath in the main bathroom was too small, and the room was dark and dingy. With the powder room just downright out of date.

Planning wasn’t a big issue for these bathrooms, and we knew the rooms were big enough for their function. We made some minor changes to make the rooms feel more spacious and to incorporate new standards such as a generous bath and shower spaces.

We made the ensuite feel more luxurious with a walk-in shower extending the width of the room and selected large format tiles to minimize grout lines. We used a feature tile on the wall in the shower that is not in the direct line of the water, which continued through to the vanity. We further improved the function of this bathroom incorporating a double vanity and matching shaving cabinets, recessed into the wall for a cleaner look.

The family bathroom needed a big freshen up which we achieved with smart navy mosaics offset with white joinery and a feature free standing bath. A large round mirror sits above the white vanity and gives the room a very clean contemporary look.

We had a bit of fun in the powder room with an Osborne and Little wallpaper, mint green joinery, and a tinted bronze mirror. The repetition in the splashback tile and tap style connects the room to the other wet areas but ensures that it has its own style.
