white washed brick looks great with a tin roof and very country - think tuscany. Reclad with brick. Other wise just change the supporting poles from green to timber to match the verandah and stick with what you have. It's probably worth saving your money until you can afford to repaint the roof too and make it all work together. Work with perspectives too. Right now the focus appears to be on the roof because there is nothing drawing your eye away from it. Maybe planting coloured flowers in the front garden or great outdoor furniture like the cane lounge but with different colour cushions etc.

Did you know that you have posted on the Australian Houzz site? In Australia those products are not available so you probably won't get many opinions from this forum. If you were in Australia I would be suggesting that you consider some of the James Hardie smooth faced weatherboard products for a clean look, that is more resistant to impact than thin metal siding. With such a large house I think it would need some other darker colour along with white to help "ground" the look. Also, as mentioned above, pure white on an exterior looks very glarey - surfmist would be perfect. I would strongly suggest getting a colour consultant to help with such a large project - and get some mock-ups done with different colour ideas.

We eventually decided on Dulux White Duck for our exterior, with the garage door in Basalt, like the guttering. I’m not a huge fan of shutters, but they seem to make the windows bigger, so I left them, as the awning fittings, which will be reused with different fabric, we’re done originally to accomodate the shutters. We’ll box in the hideous columns, which are (far too) white, and then will repaint them. I’m now trying to choose exterior lights. I don’t like coach lights, like the existing lights, but don’t want to get something too modern, which would suit the house, even though I like modern fittings better. So...white? black? Stick to a more modern style of coach light? I’d really appreciate any ideas. Thanks
