I put a lot of thought into what kind of sink to install ino my new kitchen: single vs double, stainless steel vs other materials, dish drainer or not, and finally undermount vs top mount. I went safe and chose industrial grade steinless steel, double sink without a drainer but with aditional part with multi purpose. I was very indecisive about the last thing: undermount vs top mount sink and finally decided after reading this - I will go top mount.

Ha, mtvbishop, I know what you mean re decisions! I was originally looking at Oliveri Sonetto but also read the bad reviews. So I have ended up going for Tech200 with removable drainer. Just received via Toll Transport today from Melbourne - yet to be installed but looks good! I also bought the drainer which has rubber feet underneath and is designed to either sit next to and slope into one of the double bowls or on top of one of the bowls. Viv from The Sink Warehouse, with apparently 40 years’ experience in the sink business told me the product is good. I searched EVERYWHERE for what I wanted and finally found it. Hope it’s a better sink that the Oliveri option. Even in these COVID times the goods arrived in less than a week from Dandenong to Adelaide.

I only specify an overmount sink for clients if the benchtop surface warrants one. The last time I did was because the client wanted a timber benchtop. I managed to find a beautiful black quartz composite sink that worked well and looked like a feature in the kitchen because it matched the colour of the cabinets. My usual go to sink is definitely undermount because of its aesthetic and practical advantages. Small chips can always be smoothed out if need be but really, there is no substitute for being careful!

I've a friend with a Blanco sink that looks similar. The big issue is keeping it clean, because it's very hard to get the gunk out of those squared off corners. Personally, I'd go with something with rounded corners, even if they're only slightly rounded. You might have a look at Abey and some of the mid-range Clark sinks as well (our last house had a very serviceable Clark Monaco).
