Well I think my husband mainly wants to hide the chocolate stash away from me as where I would use it to store vases and everything else that you usually keep in the top of the pantry(you only get out once or twice a year). He does have a point but I am worried about boxing ourselves in - no room for growth. He is definitely not itching for his next project (we have been working weekend, after weekend on this house - decking, paving, etc) I worry about the lack of storage. Mainly because I really just like to finish a room and move on. Because I use this space every day its annoying me with how uncompleted it feels to me. I do think it needs something to finish it off and look complete. But I'm glad you like it though Madeline :) I have been researching with what people have suggested and the main trouble I foresee having is actually getting the right product delivered and available. Most don't ship to where I am (I live in a small coastal city) and its about 5hrs drive from the only Ikea in the state or I will have to wait 8 weeks for delivery from over east. So I really have to plan it right. I am reading the reviews on open shelving... well lets just say that is interesting. Thanks again!

Definately no overheads necessary, this glass section will look amazing, I've doe this in a kitchen, and it looks as though the tops been peeled back. It is amazing to have this size space, and tall cabinets next to the fridge will look fully integrated, my only thought is that while it may not need a walk in pantry, most people want one if it's do-able. To do both, I would offset another wall where your fridge is, by about 1500mm, keeping the fridge at the end, then as if the tall cabinets were there anyway, apply cabinet doors (panels to the wall with one of them actually concealing the entrance to a walk in, with full height open shelves. Tis way it's ample pantry storage, but also can accommodate a multitude of appliances and kitchenalia. When the pantry doors closed it will look like the design you currently have, with a nice surprise behind the wall. Best of both worlds. Taking the 1500mm off the width of this room will actually square up the rooms proportions anyway. So I'd do this.

Hi I'd go the colour of the wall. I love a white kitchen :) If you're looking for a point of difference, however, you could add some colourful cook books in the corner. You could also add little door knobs along the top cabinets, if you want, too help break them up a bit. Although drastic, removing the cupboard doors above the fridge and filling with colourful cook books would also add a pop of colour. It would still be in keeping with your shaker style too. Although, I'm sure you've just spent a lot on those doors, lol. Anyway, I think you've done a great job. It's a hard space to work with, small and u shaped. I can now appreciate the difficulties in working with an odd shaped kitchen! It's hard to get symmetry, so it limits what you can do. I'm about to do a similar style kitchen and was wondering what colour you used on your cabinets? They look great :)

Have you been to visit some kitchen showrooms? You can customise the photo search here on Houzz quite a bit. For example, you can simply select [dark wood[(https://www.houzz.com.au/photos/kitchen-design-ideas-with-dark-wood-cabinets-phbr1-bp~t_10444~a_17-103) cabinet finish in the filter options. Then add more filters like floor colour, kitchen layout, cabinet style, wall colour etc if you wish. Leave the benchtop and splashback options open and see what results you get. You can then save any photos that appeal to your ideabook.
