Design ideas for walk in pantry / study
Comments (8)I have been planing my new butler's pantry for a while and here are some of my favourites. My space is 2.8m x 1.5m (L-shaped). I am having 450mm wide bench with open shelving top and bottom on the long side (maybe one row of open drawers like in first photo), 650mm wide bench at the end with sink and cupboard below. I also have a small alcove on the left which will be used as a broom closet (easy access for spills). In your case I would run the bench and overhead cupboards from the window, along the right hand wall and back around to the door. You could then have a study desk under the window with the natural light. You may also have room to put a fold down ironing board cupboard all alternatively put in a pull out ironing board in the bench that returns near the door. Good luck!...See MoreStudy nook - wall shelving ideas
Comments (5)I agree with above, go with shelving that spans the full width (but not necessarily full height if you don't need that much storage - anything you put up will probably affect the usefulness of the ceiling light you have in the nook). I think the wall behind to the right could use something. And an item in a coordinating colour on the left of the desk, like maybe a pen holder from a craftsperson who makes timber or glass? Or is the space between the windows where you're putting the bookshelf?...See MoreStudy room - cabinet design ideas for this space
Comments (9)Looking at your study photo, there is only one power outlet on the wall of windows. And this is stuck in the corner. I would recommend more than one power outlet above desk height. Then there is easy access to power for charging phones, laptops, plugging in computer screens, copy/scanners/printers. It can get dangerous if your using multiple socket power boards. If you are installing fixed cabinetry, it will be an issue to have to “get under the desk” every time something major needs plugging in. Cabinetry will need the holes on desk top for cables to then get to the one and only power outlet. That can be made easier by above desk height power outlets. Julie Herbert pictures show a lot of forward thinking has gone into position of power outlets and type of cabinetry....See Moreclado-0298
