Colours to go with Colourbond Ironstone roof
Comments (34)Hi, we are extending upstairs over a older red brick home. we have Ironstone windows, gutters, roof. We are going to render the extension but don't want to go lighter like a Dune colour but more of a medium grey. We will be replacing our posts and garage door with timber (also have a timber gate) so I feel like we can get away with a darker grey upstairs render. Do you know a good medium grey that goes well with Ironstone? Initially I was thinking Simone Weil and maybe even Guild Grey if it's not too dark?...See Moreadvice on colourbond roof colour please
Comments (22)Restore the facade. Don't render as you'll loose the fabulous brickwork. Just re-point it. Do maintenance on the roof as needed. I'd pressure clean then see what it comes up like. If it's still a bit ordinary then paint it. I would do a bit of investigating on other original colour schemes before choosing charcoal, even though I admit the charcoal does look really good! By the way we render as we don't want to pay brickies to really use their craft so we buy cheap bricks and render. Render does look fine when used as a feature rather than a whole facade. Don't compete with neighbours make your house more desirable by keeping its character. I would however consider spending some good money on the landscaping. There are some superb gardens on these wonderful homes around the inner suburbs of Melbourne for example and would work great with yours....See MoreHelp finding Colourbond Headland colour for roofing
Comments (11)Hi Craig, YES - it took a lot of research, but I was able to find a supplier that had "new old stock" of Colorbond Headland (Mack Bros in Melbourne). And they had everything, the roll for the corrugated iron sheets, guttering, ridges and valleys, even the screws. So many things worked out in my favour - my roofer in SA had an account with them and he was happy to deal with them, the valleys arrived and were much larger than what we were expecting (apparently, in the eastern states, the valleys are made larger/deeper than here in SA as they experience more storms - with climate change and more severe weather planned to occur, this was an unexpected bonus), and the end result worked out beautifully Before... After (with new Headland roofing) Rear extension. We've received so many comments over the course of the project, and I must say that I'm still surprised that the colour was discontinued (it really does look like a terracotta colour in real life). Good luck Craig! Dino...See MoreCheap ideas for colourbond fence
Comments (16)Keeping in mind you want something cheap, do you have pics or a plan, because maybe you could simply plant most of the fence for an unobtrusive backdrop and do one length as a feature? I agree with C P that colour alone won't do it with a metal fence. If you go for something in front, you want a pattern that is reminiscent of MCM and breezeblocks, but that might be too busy for a backdrop for cacti, more of a feature on its own perhaps. Ideally I think a plain light rendered finish as a backdrop for dessert plantings. Either way it's not exactly going to be cheap....See Morebigreader
