Paint Design Dilemma

Painting walls/doors/trim white

My husband and I bought a major fixer upper and everything needs to be painted. Is it okay to paint the walls, trim & doors all the SAME shade of white? We are thinking Simply White by Benjamin Moore.

Of course you can and simply white is a great colour. All white can be handy in a fixer upper and it gives your brain a rest from decisions whilst you tackle everything else.

If the trims and doors are already painted then go for it for a neautral background look that has no character. However if they are stained timber then never paint it white and work with what you have.

Hi rachemacdonald Natural white is one of my favourite interior whites. It's not too creamy but still warm and not cold and sterile. Use low sheen on walls. Use half strength on the ceilings in a flat finish. (The ceiling acts as a reflector to bounce light around the room.) The trims - arch, skirts, windows and doors can be half strength in a satin finish. This will modernise the space and make it feel more spacious. Best wishes.

Daniel Lindahl - I didn't say to get rid of it - I just said to change it for something else - I have a 70's home owner built - cavity brick - Daniel sometimes it is working with what you have in order to keep costs down - paintings - if you have several - can be changed around your home for a interesting look - as our homes are our homes - the paintings - can always be shared in various rooms/walls to suit ones mood.

Thanks for the ideas. Really appreciate it. I have a sample pot of surfmist but all I see is green in it. I had not thought of Hog Bristle - I also have some sample pots of it (full, half and quarter) so might try a door. Perhaps I could even try the Natural White? I do have a bit of a thing for white trims......just not this white outside when the sun hits it. Below is a picture of the interior where I have used the Natural White on the walls and Vivid White on the trims and ceiling (paint job not 100% finished).

Try dulux snowy mountains. Just hope you plan to bring some colour and textured elements into space. With the tiled light floor, the effect might a bit cold.

I felt.that our stained timer frames were dating our house, so painted all of them white. Looks great!
