You have a lot going on texture-wise so I'd probably keep it simple in terms of rug texture or there'll be too much going on at once. Warm would do well in this room though, so that's good! You mention it's away from the light outdoor area, is this photo an accurate representation of the lighting you normally get in this room? So in summary, you might want to have a look at rugs that don't have much texture, and are a bit brighter in colour to help brighten up the room. Below are just a couple of examples of rugs that could work, and one more neutral example.

Oh! Sorry I misunderstood your post. I think it depends on what type of planting you will have along your fence line. I assume it will be a Colorbond fence? I wouldn't introduce Shale grey. Of those two I'd prob stick with Surfmist but then I think greenery looks FABULOUS against Monument fencing. The whole back of my house is Surfmist acrylic render and we have chosen Monument fencing and garden retainer walls/seating around the perimeter of our garden as it provides a background of depth against greenery. I know you don't like Monument though. Houzz does give you a variety of opinions and does make you think outside the square. Good luck with your choice!

Painting a small room white does not make it look larger or more open. Nearly all bathrooms are by definition tiny and yet many of them look amazing even if the darkest wall colours. I suspect that bathroom pictured has a feature wall to contain costs more than for design purposes. A herringbone tile design is more expensive than other options. White tiles are so popular in bathrooms because they are the cheapest option and a safe choice. Not necessarily because they are a design statement. No-one ever complains about a white bathroom in a house. If you are wanting to recreate that look do it to the letter. You have a similarly sized room, it will work. You're not going to get a warm look by choosing a grey colour scheme. But you could use towels and maybe cane baskets to break up the monotone vibe. You could also choose matte brass tapware instead of the black. Here are some pics of a soft grey and brass scheme.
