Tossing around ideas for main bathroom reno.
Comments (6)Thanks for your feedback ... I love the idea of the grey grout but worry it would make too much of a feature of the subway tile ... Would prefer to use towels & pictures to feature ... But will give it some thought ... I find it interesting about the negativity of the subway tile when it seems to be featuring in all the current home mags ( not the architectural ones which seem to focus on concrete, timber & stone)...See MoreDesigners/creative folk..Please help with..ideas for bathroom reno....
Comments (18)Your mockup scheme is similar to our master bathroom we just completed - photo below. I know you mentioned storage being a concern - our mirrored cabinet has offered an amazing amount of storage in a very small space and also helps bounce light around. I was worried about black taps etc too so we kept chrome fixtures but added in a matte black candle and black potted orchid to create a similar effect which we can change out later on. Our floor tiles are dark but because they are semi-polished they actually bounce around a lot of light and don't make the room feel dark if that is a concern. We also have a huge fiddle leaf fig in the corner (not pictured) which adds a really nice feel to the space - a plant like that could help bring in the outside greenery in your bathroom. Instead of the storage tower you have to the left of the vanity could you do say some floating wood shelving, possibly with baskets added for more hidden storage? You could also bring in the 60s theme with what you displayed on there eg. photos as you mentioned? In regards to the window - a previous house we lived in had a window at about shoulder height in the shower - as well as letting in heaps of light it was amazing for storing toiletries etc!...See MoreBathroom in need of an update! Comments (23)Hello! Lovely space, I have a huge soft spot for these bathrooms. To honour what it is, but make it more enjoyable for your uses PLANTS PLANTS PLANTS. I would either install some shelving to have some dangling vines (or equivalent look) plants up high, or use a hanging fixture into the ceiling. That far corner above the bath would be great. + A large (and tall) pot plant and some smaller ones wherever you can fit them. On top of this, I would replace the doily curtain to a more modern look, perhaps white, wooden blinds? If you can do further work from here, it would be accessories, like the towel rail, and tap ware. Something a little Art Deco for your taps would look amazing. Finish with large, fluffy white towels and bathmats to conceal as much of the colour as possible and brighten the space and a big candle or three, maybe a white stool or ladder too....See MoreBathroom Reno - Looking for ideas!!
Comments (8)hang a wide mirror or artwork over the panel above the toilet..install a support screw on either side to support the hanging wire from two sides points not from the panel itself...consider a bench in the laundry with a drop in sink and more wall shelves and put the washing machine taps under the bench and relocate the power point but we need accurate dimensions of the bathroom and laundry to be more specific but mostly the bathroom needs careful choice of fixtures to feel more spacious but you should consult a plumber, waterproofer and tiler (and/or a specialist bathroom company) before making any decisions about the shower as you'll need to replace the flooring and that will help decide which style of shower would suit best..a walk in shower would look great but there may not be enough space for adequate slope for the floor so a freestanding shower stall might suit best but the window could be a problem so lots to research...See More- 5 years ago
