Your rooms looks lovely. The kids toys are part of life and good to see. I love the idea of your travel pics. They have sentimental value and priority so I’d get them framed and hung first before moving on to picking other art. I’ll see what I can find. I agree you need something to add height to the kitchen bench wall and draw your eye up a bit but I’m not sure with the lovely pendant so close. You don’t want to cram features (art and pendant) too close together as it makes things busy.

Would you consider some shelves for the kitchen wall? A wood similar to your tv cabinet would add warmth.

For your hallway. A slim console with any other travel trinkets (or source some handmade pottery from Vietnam etc) would look great on the wall opposite your travel pictures rather than more art. I’d pair with a runner rug and voila a lovely welcoming hall packed with personality.

Ok supplier ideas. My local Kmart has round mirrors at the moment. I live in a regional area (and have a budget) so I’ve purchased quite a few things online from Temple and Webster so have a browse there for rugs, consoles, mirrors etc. For the kitchen shelves I’d start with Ikea and Bunnings. Because I can’t help myself I had a look for a console. This is from orientcurio.com.au for $480 at full price. It’s only 26cm deep but mark out the dimensions on your floor is masking tape so you can make sure it’s not too cramped.

Just for a bit of context, we just built this home and is a dream come through to me. I grow up very poor in a house with zero comfort but was very happy to have a roof under my head. In saying that I always dreamed about having a “magazine” like home. It took me a long time but we finally have a new home and I am so happy to be able to dress it up and make it the way I always dreamed. Budget constraints apart, is hard for me because I know what I want but I don’t know how to achieve it. I can’t combine two pieces together lol. I am hopeless when it comes to styling and making things look nice together so I need lots of guidance. I followed the advice given here At houzz and hired an interior designer to help me chose the furniture for the house . She did a great job but I spent all my decoration budget thus I am here now lol. I really appreciate the time that everyone puts in this space to help others for free. Your care and dedication is invaluable. I am really thankful!!!

Your house is lovely and you’ve worked hard for it. It’s my pleasure to help. I’ll keep looking for a console. It’s good that you have an idea of what style you want. I always find the look I want and then hunt for something in my budget. Don’t feel you have to rush the Interiors. The best ones come together over time. I’m a house magazine addict and I can tell you many of the houses featured are long term projects, some over years. So enjoy what you’ve achieved so far. A new house and young kids is a great achievement.

What about this one? It’s about $450 at Adairs. The measurements seem good. There is also a marble topped version without the middle shelf on special at the moment for $200. But to be honest. I’d get your travel pics up first and then go from there. There are always bargains if you’re patient. I have a Wishlist for my house and it has everything from art to linen to sofas on it.

The exact console from the inspiration pic is from Mast Living in the Netherlands. It’s 500euro and there don’t seem to be any suppliers outside of Europe. So it’s just inspiration.....

Thanks again :), I nearly bought the top one from Adairs a few months back, but wasnt sure if it would match. The style suggested by the ID is very different from these, so I was unsure. But you are right, I will try to organise the photo wall first and take it from there. The most frustrating part for me is that I go to places and see some bargains, but dont know if they will match, if t hey will look good or too disjointed... most times I bought something thinking it was a great deal I eneded up not having where to place it when I got home because I didnt like the way it looked mixed with everything else (talking about my old house). I know it takes time to achieve the look and feel I want but I am sooooo wanting to have it all done ASAP, unfortunately I have $$ limitations but I will get there. I think you did the right thing leaving the Adairs table in the shop. It’s Scandi but not quite right. You need something with a touch of black to sit opposite your travel pics. Better to live without than get the wrong thing. You’ll get there. We all have budgets but you still need to love what you get for your home.

Try Kmart they have large mirrors for $29 I have one and it is fabulous, you could get the smaller size also to create that look as suggested by bigreader (love that look) or just add a single mirror with a black console to blend with your house. You are an inspiration Lila, much joy and happiness in your lovely home.

Bigreader it would be in the corridor but a bit further down. The feature wall will have the photos, opposite side the console with the mirror (s), then on the next wall is where I would place them . Will teu to take some photos to show.

The drawing helps a lot. That room seems to get a lot of light so I think the cockatoo would look great. But do you love it, you need to have a connection with the image so you like it for the long term.
