Comments (10)Ania, funnily enough I almost posted this very tongue-in-cheek comment: 'If anyone ever finds a fail-safe way to keep dust out of homes in this country I would like to know!' We live in very dusty regional area and have shadow-line skirting. It looks great but it does catch dust. I have a thin attachment on vacuum which I use to help remove it, but it's not perfect solution. Even though it's a new build and I'd like everything to be perfect 'as new,' I've decided not to sweat the small stuff in life, and get myself outdoors instead....See MoreDo skirting boards and door architraves need to match?
Comments (5)I would try to keep with the 60s style, tl keep a coherent look. I think your number 2 picture looks good, however, I think that the groove would be a good spot for dust to collect....See MoreArchitrave/Moulding width for modern home help
Comments (7)Proportional consistency - keeping the 1:2 rule in place everywhere will jar less than having the same architrave but varying the skirting. If you’re already considering 90 and 140 skirting, why not go for 40 and 70 architraves? The effect will be more harmonious and it shouldn’t impact the price too much ... plus, it’s your house - if you like the 1:2 rule then use it :-) (PS: if it does impact the price too much, just pick one size of each and save more cash)...See Moredreamer
