How have you dressed your bedroom windows?
Comments (4)The master bedroom in my previous home faced north. Floor to ceiling window getting full sun during the day, and a street light directly outside at night. So, an exterior shutter, internal blind and curtains allowed light and heat control for various times of day and season. The master bedroom in my current home also faces north with a floor to ceiling window, but no street light. On full moon nights though, it shines right in. Once again an external blind controls light and heat, and interior blind and curtain gives me options for different times of day and season, eg. we love the sun coming in during winter, but not summer....See MoreHow to use windows to create a Hamptons-style look.
Comments (5)Colonial panes looks awful on sliding windows. They look best on double hung. What I don't really get is why you'd want to build an American-styled home in a state known for it's vernacular architecture which is very similar in appeal? Hamptons/Qlder are almost the same thing but one will look authentic in QLD and the other not so much. This house is sitting in a hot state and yet it has almost no eaves, limited deep verandahs. That style is built for a temperate climate (the USA shares practically no climate similarities with Australia except in Florida). So the owners opted for the climatically different house and put it in the one state where the vernacular would actually function better. It would have been a simple thing to Hamptoms style a Qlder and benefit from both....See Morewindow to French doors.. how hard and $ is this?
Comments (3)I'm concurring with @bigreader, looks like a converted garage. If you do not know where services are, contact the council for information. The cost to make a window into a french door is not expensive. You already have the main cut out with the window, so the french door installers will do the additional brick cut out required. It is the cost of the actual doors which would be the most. Why make that living room into another bedroom? By the plan you have posted you will then have 5 bedrooms, and a small dining and family area, which seem to be thoroughfares. With all the bedrooms along way from the bathroom. maybe look at moving the main bathroom into the bedroom wing. Would the bedroom attached to the living become a living area? Why don't you make the two bedrooms on the left of your plan into a bedroom and ensuite, then you know that there is services because of the kitchen being behind. Can I suggest you should always make an overall plan for the entire home, not just one room....See MoreAny ideas how we can utilise the bay window space ??
Comments (8)If you have a musical family a piano would look lovely. Alternatively an art stand/easel with a fabulous piece of art or a plant stand with a large fern would also look great. You could add drama with a pendant light....See MoreAlisa D
