We'd love to landscape the far side but sadly that is our neighbour's property and the river rock lined area right beside the pool fence is an easement that runs like a creek when we get rain so can't plant in there :). I do plan to sneak in a few more of the Golden Cane palms onto the neighbouring paddock as some have self seeded anyway- hopefully create a nice screen. I have my eye on some nice pots and two lovely wooden loungers with cream cushions, all in budget. But I'll only get them once I decide what to do with the paving area to better blend with the pool surround. I've just had the area pressure washed about 2 weeks ago so my thinking is to go with the repaint in the medium grey and hope we get 5 years out of it.

These decking ideas are great - it's always a good idea to consider the practical as well as the aesthetic! Another practical thing to think about is using the right timber connectors around your pool, because unprotected brackets and post supports can rust away very quickly and make decks unstable and dangerous to use. Hi Emma. As mentioned above, you can select a porcelain tile that is suitable for outdoor use. This can then be installed as your paving, coping and waterline similar to below. I would suggest 100-150mm of waterline tile as below. Hi PC, You dont mention where you are, so dont know which pool fencing regulations will apply to you. Whilst there are not really any rules about the space within the fence, there are restrictions on how close to windows, boundary fences and other climable objects. Generally we aim for minimum areas inside the fence for safety reasons. You definitely should consider if you will allow glass in the pool fence area as a broken bottle or glass is a major safety hazard in the pool, as the glass can be impossible to see. You generally end up having to drain the pool to ensure all the glass is vacummed up. Not a fun exercise. You may also need some temporary fencing whilst you move the permanent fence too.
