It looks regency to me, because of the flanking columns and perhaps a bespoke craftsman made it to a clients order. If it's a mahogany veneer, is the inlay detail real or painted? I would think painted for this style. it is a nice serpentine, although rather than being of one style, it may just be as they wanted it. It was commonplace in the 40-50s to have quality furniture made to order as we now do with joinery. queen Anne was popular at his time, and you can see an influence there.

Loving your space and flooring. We recently bought a white unit 2400 long. I had planned to have a cabinet built in at a later stage taking up the whole wall but have now decided that I like the option of having space at the ends for decorative pieces eg: the plant and accent chair. Also there is plenty of storage with the existing unit. I went for white to blend in with the walls to make the floor is more of a feature and I could then add colour accents in the room without it all being too much.

I think this is a great opportunity to introduce either colour or boldness to make a statement, go for a square or rectangle piece that is relative to the length of your sideboard, but don't go longer! The length of the runner on your sideboard would be a good guide - measure this length as well as the sideboard and take the measurements art shopping with you, have fun with it and just pick something you love!!

Apart from the colourings , and the era , being similar , they don't really match . To do it PROPERLY , you'd have to -- Trim the wider unit back Add a backstop to the taller unit Lower the taller unit ( there goes most of your wine rack ) Match ( exactly ) all the handles AND the angles Even then , you'd almost have to bolt the 2 together , and with 2 wall thicknesses in the middle , anyone looking for more than 3 seconds will realise . I'd actually be tempted to swap the 2 units over , and have a 'step down' look -- the drop down door on the very right . And keep them seperate .
