Comments (35)Jacqueline Macho, I agree the sink between the two pantries would be too dangerous. I would check the measurement for your work area between the sink and cooktop. As you have a large cooktop and sink between the fridge and oven...is there enough room to do all the food prep? I love a clean island and have never liked the idea of having any cooktop on an island as it seems too dangerous. A large sink takes up too much room on an island, especially if you’ve forked out for lovely stone or granite. I have for my new build, which we have been in for a month now, put in a small round bowl. I’m glad I did as I use it for food prep, and it has filter water for drinking. It doesn’t compromise the look or use of our island. I have a large and deep sink in the butlers for doing the washing up. I only have one dishwasher...yes folks just one. As my benches are 950mm high I opted for an Asko xxl....they are taller than others. After renting a house with a fisher and paykel dish drawers, I swore never to have them in our new build. So I personally can’t recommend them. Others might like them. Kitchens cost so much that’s why we obsess over them....See MoreHelp with kitchen and laundry layouts
Comments (9)Hello jbakerfc, I can see how this can work. It needs to run in straight lines! As you step into the kitchen from entry immediately to your left is a linen/store/broom cupboard then wall to laundry door. Along the other wall an under bench WM, trough and one meter of benching makes laundry. (where it is now I'm guessing). Then use the full depth of that lost space for step in pantry with a cavity slider. 1400 wide by 1600 deep: enough to store feed the hungry hoards! This is that side taken care of! to the right as you enter from entry, is 'frige in situ. One long 3.5 m bench along the outside wall: stove right hand end of bench, closest to entry. At the other end place DW and SSS with chunk of bench between. There would be one meter from front of stove to side of 1.2 wide fridge then door to entry. In free space place an island bench: aprox 1.9 x 1.2 Working at this in kitchen you would have your back to the window and be looking into laundry. it would be wide enough for back to back cabinets or stools to traffic side or ends. I think the family room cabinet would swing round to back the bedroom. be great to put in cavity sliders instead to open it all up when you want to. I hope this makes sense to you. I do hope the living rooms are to the north for maximum solar gain to keep your heating bills to a minimum. Cheers Margot...See MoreKitchen, Mudroom/laundry, Walk in pantry layout advice please
Comments (21)Thank you Geluka and Margot, the breakfast bar won't be 2 level, the app we used to draw up this design doesn't allow a single piece of bench (to wrap around the support column) hence the split level look. We will have a glass door for our mud room/laundry entrance. Probably won't have a pergola as the courtyard will be quite small and narrow post extension. I am considering moving the oven tower to the end of the bench housing the stove top. Assuming a 900mm stove, 600mm oven tower that will leave 600mm clearance on either side of the stove top. Many thanks, Ee ;)...See Moredreamer
