apennameandthata i don't know... vertical is more shed like style, while we still have a colonial style base and veranda. Dust will be an issue here (although its not so bad in that particular spot on a river, good protection from trees) but pressure wash will be regular practice anyway. Thanks for all your suggestions and I will take all on board, especially sandstone ideas. I don't this I want this house to look pretentious, but how can I describe that, I am after some subtle "wow" factor or something a bit different, but it must look like we knew what we are doing and YES, I want it to look like high quality build and not a transportable house or kit home. The house rectangle is so simple that I worry it may have that boring factor in its looks and that is why I am looking for some ideas. My problem is a tendency to overthink but I hope I will find a balance at some point :) At this stage I think: galvanised tin everywhere (or that zincalum), rusty steel posts, aluminum windows with timber look, sandstone features around main door and sandstone chimney. We had a big flood last year and the spot never goes under water, its on high grounds even though it is only meters from the river.

We went with Monument and I am delighted. I was worried about it making the house hotter, but not at all as we added some extra insulation while the roof was lifted. We look over our roof to Mt Dandenong and it really feels like we are floating above the rooftops now (previously had a lighter color). I have also noticed there is far less glare being darker. Pic below is not my best shots ... but you get the idea. Forgot to add we also have a flat cliplock roof and used a combination of Monument and Dune on the house.

Scallopini is similar to Dune? The dutch gable's (triangle's) would be better in Shale Grey as would Facia and gutters. Monument gutter ok but could be a bit much. Monument to roof and garage door. Monument to window frames as well rather than black? Depends on builder window company. Scallopini to walls. That way really just 3 colours.

Personally I wouldn’t be using monument at all as I don’t like dark houses. But colours are personal, which is why it is so hard. They are also different in different light conditions and what colours are around them influence how or eyes take them in,. At moment you seem to have a blue tint to your paintwork. For a change I would be tending to a green tint which complements the red toned bricks. For the house above I would change the mounument to woodland grey. But then that is what I have on my house so I’m biased in that way. Hammer grey is a plain medium grey. So it will be fine. It is neither a feature colour nor too dark.
