Bedroom recess, I'm out of ideas!
Comments (34)I'm guessing it's meant to be a robe recess. I would just call a wardrobe installer and get a quote for built in storage, eg. Drawers, hanging, TV space, shelves, whatever. They will help with your design and you can never have too much storage. It's only a quote, free ideas and you may be pleasantly surprised with the price....See MoreTime for the vase to go ... what else can I put in the recessed wall?
Comments (84)Absolutely agree with blueskies60 ! Remove the artwork/bench/plant that's on the left and replace then with either a bookshelf or a tall chest of drawers. Perhaps the plant can be repositioned into the corner on the floor where this troublesome niche is (there seems to be more than enough light there for a plant) and just place something calm and simple in the niche itself - perhaps a Japanese style scroll or pen and ink art work set off with a more rounded object sitting in the left corner of the niche; a gorgeous rock, a lovely candle, a calming statue... If you have (my preference) a chest of timber drawers on the left where the current art work is, you'll break up the symmetry, have more storage and have another surface upon which you can place a changing display of objects. This is the area that I would utilise for a mirror....See MoreAdvice re shower recess
Comments (3)We have recently updated our ensuite and main bathroom to have tiled base showers. Our ensuite is alcove and we installed a hinged door frameless shower as 1200mm. Our main bathroom shower is a single panel about 1000mm with an overhead shower rose extending 450mm. Most water is contained but there is a little splash forward onto the drying off area, so I imagine there would definitely be mopping up required from a 600mm screen. Perhaps you might do better installing a curtain, but since the screen is measured up and ordered after all the other work/tiling is done you can make this decision later (after using the screen without a screen for a bit)...See MoreNeed help installing pinch pleat curtains
Comments (5)Most curtains (except sheers) benefit from the weighted hem as mentioned previously. You could also try 'training' the fabric to stack and fall, by folding concertina style across the width of each curtain. The outward pleats should match your pinch pleats, with the gully between them. It's a little fiddly to get right, as fabrics are usually off-grain, but well worth the effort. Loosely tie them with tape, ribbon etc. close to both the header tape and the hem for a few hours, or overnight. If your curtains are long and/or heavy, another tie in the middle may be needed. They should continue to drape well once released. If your rail has a cord closing mechanism (not hand drawn), it should be possible to release some cord to help the front slider cross in front of the secondary slider. However, if the weight of fabric is pulling the rail down, the rail could need extra support across its length, or a sturdier model... Hope this helps!...See MoreRobbi Zed
