Thank-you both for your input! I think I'm tossing up between putting the chairs in the nook or against the long wall. If chairs go in the nook, it's cosy and there's more walkway space as you said, Luke, for beanbags etc. However, what would I do with the 2m wall near the entrance? Would seating there be a bit odd? However having the screen in the nook would allow for a longer row of seating I think? So potentially more people could fit in, although those sitting near the door may have an obscure view of the screen. It seems like both options have pros & cons! We don't have anything that needs to go in, so to speak, although plenty of seating options and tables for drinks etc would be really great!

Hi Highlandslass I would recommend to try using an indirect light, that floods light back onto the ceiling, so you don't see the actual light source. In particular as you don't actually need to generate too much light from what you say, this will be a really nice option and give you nice ambient lighting. If you go for a warm light (say around 2700-3000 K (that is the measurement for the light temperature) LED, it won't use much energy but create a friendly inviting atmosphere. So you can actually leave it on for a lot of the time and it'll add a nice feel to your home. There's a lot of choice out there for the actual fittings, depending on your style, and they don't cost the earth. lisa2chang No apologies needed, happy to answer and thank you for your compliment. We imported all our appliances, sink ware and tapware and sourced bathroom fittings also. The costs below include all trades (plumbing, electricians, plasters, tilers, chippies, wooden flooring) that we used and 2pac cabinetry, vanities, all stone (bathrooms, kitchen, laundry, pantry). In total our renos cost (for laundry, kitchen, powder room, butlers pantry changing a family bathroom into a new bathroom and ensuite) $145, 359.47. The kitchen and pantry portion of this was $62, 919.41- (excluding appliances sinks and tapware). We did make structural changes to the room next to the kitchen, to make the butlers pantry and to a large, unused family bathroom. We saved costs by doing all the demo and painting ourselves,some labouring and importing appliances. Hope that helps :)
