Need help with bathroom/laundry design
Comments (9)I have 3 questions about your space, Do you want external access for laundry to back yard? Is there a window/external door in there? Could the bath be just a nice galvanised tub/large plastic tub/baby bath that hangs on the wall until needed? (Filling & emptying it happen in the new shower with flexible spray arm???) My first thoughts are to keep all the plumbing across back wall (if no door planned) and move the entry door to the linen cupboard on right hand side. Then make linen cupboard on left front wall and accessible in part from both sides ie. bulk towels etc outside upper wall access (behind shower) then laundry basket & other storage is inside access, How about a modern shower which is 13-1400 mm square (same position as current layout) with a 7-800 mm glass door on left and a tiled 600 mm blade wall on the back right hand side which the laundry stone bench butts to (window over?) Leaves 18-1900 mm length on back wall to accommodate the tub/sink and washer dryer. If you place the washer/dryer under the bench and a 500 mm wide storage cupboard you gain a greater bench area for sorting etc and wall space depending on window for shelves, hanging rack etc. If you really want a bath Decina have a corner model and a rectangular to fit these dimensions and then you would need a shower screen (will this be the only bath?) With the door into this room on the right it creates the better flow straight ahead to the laundry and left with some privacy to the shower/bath. The linen cupboard is a good size and you could have a hatch on the outside right to the laundry basket inside which could even be on wheels in a recess/niche. Hope this makes sense and helps a little. :-)...See MoreHelp with laundry/bathroom layout
Comments (22)Hi. This is the existing plan. Entrance is currently at front up four stairs (house on stumps). Or via back door on ground level that goes into current ground floor laundry. From laundry you walk up four steps into current dining. We are a family of five. Kids are now 8,6,4 - two youngest are in long side bedroom (has angled roofline), master bedroom is front middle room and oldest child is in bedroom that joins existing dining room. Kitchen is in the middle of the house (there’s a window to laundry from kitchen which would originally have been to outside before laundry enclosed and built in). We want to add another bedroom, deck and larger kitchen to cater for growing family but we are very limited with budget and need to do so smartly. House has high ceilings and VJ walls internally but fibro outside. Bathroom has been recently renovated. What we love about the house is that it is open and airy. We like smaller homes and those with a bit of character. TIA!...See MoreNew layout for Kitchen, Bathroom & Laundry
Comments (2)You’re shower space seems narrow ie less than 900mm wide?? There are great new instantaneous hot water systems that can fit on outside wall too so free up internal space Have you gone to a bathroom place ? Some have specialist bathroom designers. So knocking down storage cupboard wall sounds good and have awning window above laundry bench and I’d prob integrate laundry into bathroom or perhaps could have bifold doors in front if want to shut off mess from any visitors and vanity can stick out more ie be deeper so have more storage else keep narrow and narrow full length wall cupboards on back wall. Play with boxes to work out how far things can stick out without interfering with the flow of movement you like...See MoreBathroom layout help - awkward space at bathroom
Comments (5)Yes thank you for your thoughts. the room is 2.8 (with window) vs 3.4m. I do find it a bit annoying too as I don't like that you open the door and see straight away into the shower (though I'm certain the door would have a lock). I'm sure they lined the bath up to be with the window as visually that looks better, but then I find the space at the end annoying. I like the alternative drawings (I like three of them lots!) and I had been considering an drop in bath built wall to wall rather than a freestanding but also finding it frustrating to find a really nice supportive bath and there are less drop in baths than freestanding around at the moment which is a bit annoying. Thanks Anna for the picture, that helps as that looks good (though we would have more space at either end, 50cm) and I prefer the look of yours with some space but not as cavenous... I think I might have to have a talk with my husband as we really need to work out what to do!!...See MoreGai Munro
