This box cone has become stubby and mis-shapen over time - how safe is it to trim it into a leaner more even shaped cone? I don't want to make it look worse if the leaves don't grow back, and it is slow growing. Thanks.
Just very gently shape , don’t cut into the wood if possible, I usually wait until spring growth before I trim mine. You can make up a really simple frame for a perfect shape every time.
