bathroom reno bath or no bath
Comments (8)I agree. A real estate agent told me that no bathtub can devalue a house and make it difficult to sell. Unless of course your area is more for singles/couples. I am about to renovate my bathroom and I am keeping the bath and making the shower bigger. I need to sacrifice the size of the cabinet/hand basin but with so many unique storage ideas out there, I will still have sufficient room for a family's bathroom needs....See MoreNo bath or shower bath?
Comments (9)My house and bathroom are small so space saving is critical. The original old bathroom layout has a small square shower and a separate half bath, with an even smaller basin right next to the toilet. It was claustrophobic and the half bath was only used for storing cleaning stuff. When we renovated, the bathroom was gutted, keeping most of the original plumbing points. Though we are not "bath persons" we decided to have a shower over (normal length) bath with frameless swing glass screen. From past experiences, I find it easier to clean a shower-over-bath than a fully tiled shower area, or one with a shower base. When visitors with young children came to stay, having a bath was handy. Combining shower/bath gave us room for a long vanity with plenty of bench space and away from the toilet. It now has ample of space in the middle for changing and moving around each other. Shower-over-bath definitely is an efficient use of small bathroom space....See MoreBath or no bath?
Comments (5)We are literally having the same debate. We have a 12 year old and 9 year old, house doesn't have an ensuite as such but dual living set up with one bathroom on the ground level and one on the first level. At this stage we are thinking no bath...will be interested to see what you end up deciding too1...See MoreTo bath or not to bath?
Comments (11)Agree it is hotly debated. In our first home we renovated we had a big bathroom, double shower, clawfoot bath, double vanity. Our laundry was right outside our bathroom and we decided instead of having a change table for our babies, we would put a mat on the laundry bench and use that, much to several of our friends dismay who promtply delcared we would get sick of it after 5 minutes and do the changetable in the nursery. Um nope, never did and used the laundry bench the whole time, actually made cleaning up several 'poonamis' as we used to refer to them as, rather easy actually. In the end, both children ended up bathing in our laundry tub, no kneeling down and bending over a bath, and right next to our designated 'changing station' lol, and it worked perfectly. Failing that we would often shower the kids, we had a bumbo that we put in the shower with us and they would sit in that, loved it. As they got older as toddlers, both used to shower a lot and not use the bath at all. We left that house when our eldest was 7 and our youngest was 4. We went on to purchase and renovate another house that never had the bath put in until we were nearly finished the reno and were selling, so no baths there either. Now we are in their (the kids) third house since they were born and they are 12 and 9, small bathroom layout, they've had baths here a few times...but not a lot. And now like you we are debating...when we redo this bathroom...to bath or not to bath...lol. Not sure if it helps... :)...See Moreoklouise
