Need idea on how to decorate a small open living space please.
Comments (18)Hi ASVInteriors, I think you forgot to attach a link to the Ikea chairs (would love to see which ones you meant :) The only worry I have with moving the sofa closer to BR2 wall is that it might block the flow from the entrance through to the large-ish hallway (where it has tall bookcases domintaing one wall and an Ikea 4x2 Expedit uni on the other wall) into the living room (see the plan). But maybe it would work? I should try to move it around a bit. At the moment eh sofa is moved onto the 344cm wall temporarily, with the coffee table in front it. Not sure if it shows up in the pictures well but we have quite a large 6 seaters dining table in the kitchen, which is placed fairly close to the carpet area. I would say that the distance between the back of the closest chair (tucked in, not when pulled out), on one end of the table, to the edge of the carpet area is only 20cm. By moving the sofa closer to the BR2 wall, and with the diving wall between kitchen and hallway being there, it may close the flow? Hmmm...I am not a designer so sometimes I can't visualise it first, maybe I should try to move it around a bit. I did try to move the sofa closer to the BR2 wall and felt a bit claustrophobic of how little space (on carpet area) is left at the back of the sofa. Definitely have to think seriously about getting a large ottoman :)...See MoreDoes a plain flat ceiling work in a big open space?
Comments (13)Thank you everyone for all your help and advice! Yes, we live in an inland part of Southern Australia that is very chilly in winter and exceedingly hot in summer. So efficiency is a very important part of our build. From the picture you added Louise, I think a "coffered" ceiling looks like what I would call an "up lift". I'm glad to have a second on that option ;) The picture looked good, and could defiantly be an option over the dining table I think. Thanks jbantick I looked up "scissor trusses" and they look like a great idea as well. I'm just not sure how they would run. From the entry across the dining area (N to S) or across the whole length of the 3 zones E to W ? The middle of the roof line (running E to W) doesn't run in the middle of the living zones (if that make sense) as it stretches across a hall way on the south side. If it ran this way would it look a bit off centre? How did you in vision it? Thanks for your thoughts guys....See MoreHelped needed working with this space.
Comments (6)Do you need any more seating or a casual dining nook? Other uses depend on what your lifestyle calls for & many variables based on that. It could be a reading corner, music hang out, casual dining nook, study nook or just a couple of comfy chairs to sit & ponder....See MoreHow do you reconfigure to make the space work?
Comments (38)Hi all as an update, we now own the unit (subject to settlement) and have been in with a builder. The discrepancy in the original kitchen measurements is that the floorplan has been incorrectly drawn. Attached is my update, as you can see the kitchen wall is not flush with the adjoining wall, hence the difference in width. Now we do really need ideas!!!! We are thinking about a kitchen like this too with similar flooring....See MoreHarmony Stone Gallery
