Tiny ensuite renovation
Comments (32)Such great ideas from everyone. The smaller the space, the more creative you need to be. A friend of mine has a tiny ensuite which she turned into a "wet room" and some of her Reno ideas are: Back-to-wall toilet (less space, easy to clean), In-wall (cavity) cabinet, Wall hung sink with a built in side shelf (with lovely chrome trap/plumbing). You do have to waterproof the ENTIRE room to have a wet room but don't need a shower door. She also tiled about 30cms outside the ensuite door (in the bedroom area) to save the bedroom floor from any water damage which turned out to be a great idea. Good luck with the Reno and I hope you post your "after" pics....See MoreHelp with layout of master, ensuite & robe renovation
Comments (20)Thank you both very much. You've both put a lot of thought and effort into this, its much appreciated! Its definitely opened up my thoughts and ideas on the space! Its definitely not as daunting as I was thinking and it is do-able! When you look at it everyday you get a bit stuck. I guess I need to weigh up making that study space smaller. It then makes the house technically 3B 2B. But I'm going to have to compromise somewhere for this to work! Its nice to have something tangible and clear to show the builders, so thank you! I might start drawing up something that's a little of both, as I love aspects of both designs. :)...See MoreKitchen Renovation and Master Ensuite Floorplan
Comments (17)"I didn't find that when we removed part of a rear wall wider than yours and then the sloping roof of metal or glass and large sliding doors will make great use of that wasted space and as mention much needed light back into the kitchen cheers" I didn't consider the sloped roof minimising structural impacts. I will get my builder to look into it as that will make use of that useless garden space, also integrating the outdoor living with indoors with nice stacker doors. The idea of moving WIR to bedroom 2 will surely make the Master an amazing room, however, I feel like we need to retain the upstairs retreat for energy savings. My thoughts are in the cold winter months, we spend time in the upstairs lounge (as heat rises) and in summer months, living rooms downstairs are used....See MoreSmall house bathroom/ensuite/laundry redesign ideas
Comments (11)@kiwimills I use the lounge a lot, so really not keen on eating into that space. The laundry I really only visit to put on a load of washing or grab the mop (robot vac does the rest) so wanted to pop it into an area where it's closer to the lines and in space that is not being used. Love the ideas though. @Kate yup. I think if you have space issues a dedicated laundry room seems very wasteful for most people. And wasn't there a building regulation that says you can't put them in kitchens in Australia as well? Makes sense to put them where the rest of the plumbing is. I was actually thinking of going for full height if possible to maximise space. Do you find that sliding doors impede your access or frustrate you accessing the laundry? Obviously compromises have to be made, but just wondering whether that ends up being an issue? @oklouise Thanks a heap! The layout of the house at the moment has a hinged laundry door leading to some steep (non-railed!) steps leading to the backyard. I rarely use it for anything except to get airflow into the house, but was wondering if it would be important to keep? Obviously it's about what I need at the moment, but am also considering resale value just in case....See MoreKate
