Can't resist saying something about sliding rugs, they all slide , I have all wool Persian rugs , Afghani rugs and machine made rugs they all slide, you either put a really heavy table on it or you get non slip underlay . As for feather filled cushions , it again makes no difference cheep IKEA ones are actually better then Coco republic ones , they all slide on leather sofas.

I was thinking of having the L (Chaise) on the right side (I.e not along the window side). because I was thinking if I was lying on the chaise I'd face the window not the wall or if guests came in they would also face the window if sitting on the chaise but yeah do have concerns about feeling open. sliding door opens from the other window near where the fridge will be. Thoughts?

How many people do you want to seat? Is that a walk through beside the stairs? Is there a view out the window? My first instinct is to say two sofas facing each other so everyone can see out the window and enjoy conversation.

In any event, I think the upper half of brick cavity where logs are stored could be modified and used as a place to mount your TV. I'm thinking some sort of structure could be built into the cavity and the TV mounted to it. This would require the services of a qualified carpenter to ensure the entire structure is properly and securely anchored to the brickwork, and to ensure it can support the weight of the TV, especially if a pivot mount is used. Barring this idea, is there adequate space in the opening between fam rm and kitchen/dining area which could accommodate a purpose-built unit for your TV? In other words, built directly to the right of the brickwork?
