Need help with bathroom/laundry design
Comments (9)I have 3 questions about your space, Do you want external access for laundry to back yard? Is there a window/external door in there? Could the bath be just a nice galvanised tub/large plastic tub/baby bath that hangs on the wall until needed? (Filling & emptying it happen in the new shower with flexible spray arm???) My first thoughts are to keep all the plumbing across back wall (if no door planned) and move the entry door to the linen cupboard on right hand side. Then make linen cupboard on left front wall and accessible in part from both sides ie. bulk towels etc outside upper wall access (behind shower) then laundry basket & other storage is inside access, How about a modern shower which is 13-1400 mm square (same position as current layout) with a 7-800 mm glass door on left and a tiled 600 mm blade wall on the back right hand side which the laundry stone bench butts to (window over?) Leaves 18-1900 mm length on back wall to accommodate the tub/sink and washer dryer. If you place the washer/dryer under the bench and a 500 mm wide storage cupboard you gain a greater bench area for sorting etc and wall space depending on window for shelves, hanging rack etc. If you really want a bath Decina have a corner model and a rectangular to fit these dimensions and then you would need a shower screen (will this be the only bath?) With the door into this room on the right it creates the better flow straight ahead to the laundry and left with some privacy to the shower/bath. The linen cupboard is a good size and you could have a hatch on the outside right to the laundry basket inside which could even be on wheels in a recess/niche. Hope this makes sense and helps a little. :-)...See MoreSmall bathroom mirror suggestions
Comments (15)Not a terrible idea at all. I placed two mirrors across each other in our small bathroom. The mirrors are not of the same width but are the same design and at the same height to maintain simplicity. One narrow mirror above the basin, same width as the basin and tall enough so that our tallest family member at 2m can see their face. The WC also sits next to the basin but I did not want to extend the mirror from the basin. The wall space above the WC allowed for decorative items, eg artwork; narrow display shelf to add interest and texture. Directly opposite the basin and WC is a wide cabinet, and a large mirror to cover that width of cabinet and at the same height as the basin mirror. This mirror also reflects the artwork above the WC. It reflects so much more light and creates a wonderful feeling of space....See Moresouth facing farm cottage bathroom renovation
Comments (25)I'd definitely pursue the skylight idea, it will make a huge difference to the feel of the room. Particularly a skylight over a bath/shower can make the room look really great and is easier to install where the height to the pitched roof is shorter. The window is very narrow, not sure as it's kind of quirky & charming, otherwise replace with another wider old-style sash window or remove all together and just use the large skylight and good downlights. 1800mm wide is lovely for a bathtub against the back wall, and will make a nice focal point as you walk through the door and change the bathroom from looking like a narrow corridor as it currently tends to. Back wiht some fresh white subway tiles which will feel lovely in your farmhouse and with that lovely traditional door and some simple traditional tap ware/showerhead. I like your built in bath reference, I know feature stand alone baths are popular, but with small children, I'd forever be mopping up awkward spaces around it. You maybe able to reuse your existing bath if it's in good nick. Then a lovely vanity with recessed mirror cabinet built into the wall for lots of storage. I wouldn't fuss too much wiht the toilet, I'd keep it as is, tucked in the corner....See MoreBEST LAYOUT FOR RENOVATING (SMALL) FAMILY BATHROOM - NO TOILET
Comments (19)Nik Star, I’m jealous of your bigger space ; ) - but so happy you have now been reacquainted with your messing tape! We are toying with the idea of putting a cavity slider in. Thank you Ripple Effekt Siriuskey - yes I really LOVE the concept of a “wet room” - Never imagined that our space was big enough for this but now seeing it’s possible, thinking about trying the bath under the window, then the shower and then vanity on the bottom left corner - just flipping yours slightly. Just trying to find a good bath that’s narrower design to allow for the biggest vanity possible. You are all awesome!...See Moreoklouise
