kitchen cabinet handles decision

Hi, I need to choose cabinet handles for the kitchen in my new build... I have found handles that I love but they are really expensive, and my cabinet maker can get a great price on some others which I don’t mind. I was thinking to use the ones my cabinet maker can get and change to the ones I love down the track when I can afford the investment.

Question is, if the handles are a slightly different sized (probably by a few mm?) will this not be possible to change without having visible screw holes from the first handles? How do people get around this?

There's no such thing as a stupid question, can you post photo of both handles to help with possible ideas

Yes, changing the handles, if different sizes, will leave screw holes in cabinets. These have to be carefully filled and painted to match cabinet. If the handles you really want are bigger, then the original screw holes may be covered by new handle. If you really want the special handles, but spending priorities are needed, then I would source the cheapest possible handle, which is the same size as the handles that you really want. Big picture, is you may ruin your cabinets, which are a lot more expensive than handles.

Ok, so I received the other handle I was looking at from Sydney. The smaller one , does come in a larger size if required, it is however satin chrome and would match the octagonal knobs. The new one is brushed Nickel , the same as my pendant lights. I had not even noticed this until the new handle arrived as I did not hold them up against the lights. If I chose the nickel ones I would need to also choose a new knob for the cabinets. Thoughts appreciated :)

You may have a problem if your original handles weren't a standard size You'll either need to fill the old holes and drill new ones. Tricky depending on the door's material. Or, shop for handles that fit. Good luck

Nice kitchen casdyson1! I rather like the idea of black handles, esp seeing your window frames are black and the track for sliding door is black; however, I do understand your hesitation. Out of those two samples, I prefer the Brushed Brass. It's prettier and the rounded design will feel better in your hand (ergonomic). It would be helpful to know what your backsplash will be, and if you plan any additional feature lighting in kitchen. It may alter my thinking.

Gee, they are both lovely and completely different to one another. The Georgian Bluffs contains veining which seems to impart more character, while the Ocean Foam appears cleaner, crisper and plainer. It boils down to a matter of taste and which complements the overall look and design of your kitchen. IF you want your benchtop material to be the main attraction/feature in the kitchen, my opinion is the GB would achieve this better Have you visited a kitchen display centre or a Caesarstone display centre? Seeing each up close and in an actual kitchen would be beneficial. A large slab will give you a better idea than a small sample piece.

I think you need to keep looking. Sadly, chances r by the time you can afford the ones you want they may be hard to get. Or. Xmas present?

Good thinking Kate. Maybe each family member can buy you one handle. Instead of presents, that you may not need or want.
