Bathroom renovations - Tile dilemma.
Comments (6)I think the first mood board is more visually appealing and will make more of a statement. As for the black, they look great but i would aim at not making the room to busy, and just selecting 2 different styles of tile at the most. If you have renovated other rooms of the house or are trying to keep a theme through out - think about this also. Also i believe it would be more worthwhile for your home if you keep the two bathrooms similar, with minor changes like the size of the bathroom tiles - this wont be a big deal, as long as they are similar. Would love to know how you went and what you decided upon!...See MoreDilemma with small bathroom design
Comments (13)always great to have space for a basket and/or waste paper bin...my suggestion has the new shower in the old toilet space and hopefully a standard 1500 x 900 shower stall with sliding glass door would be the easiest and cheapest option with easy access to the towels and less hassles with drainage (although the old toilet window needs to be considered) a standard toilet in a 800 x 800 knee and elbow space, standard 1200 vanity with custom sized counter and drop in sink allows underbench space for a basket and there's a wide mirror and/or mirror doored wall cabinet and also consider extending the counter over the top of the toilet for my favourite streamlined look...See MoreNarrow bathroom dilemma
Comments (9)Not doable with these current dimensions if you want to have a full-size bath, full-size open shower, full-size vanity with some bench space, and room to use it comfortably without grazing your shins every time you use it. Kids need more space with potty training and using a bath, so even if you could get everything you want in your narrow room, you won't have the room to supervise children. If you extended the room to 2.29 x 2.75 you would have a better chance. I would consider using a shower with a sliding shower door (uses less space than an open shower), a 1500mm long bath, and a semi-recessed basin. Small bathrooms are the hardest to design and get right as you need to allow space for doors to open and to move around and be able to use the space. Comments (5)I know with some of my clients that the quirky, unusual features of their new homes are often initially hated until they appreciate that they are actually part of the character, charm and uniqueness of their home. With any new house, it is always best to live with it for a while to really decide if you hate it, before spending money on removing it. Are they timber? Or tiles that look like timber? If timber I would consider staining them with a grey wood stain to a similar tone to the surrounding tile if you want to make them disappear. If they are tile then I would be looking at some of the tile paints that are available and try and match the grey tile colour. However, if it was my bathroom I would live with them as they provide an interesting contrast to all of the grey tiles, and I would fill them up with glorious Murano glass to add colour and interest to a very grey bathroom.
