ideas for white kitchen please

Hello,
We are just renovating our kitchen. It’s going to be all white.( brown bit on top is bulkhead that will be painted white )
Looking forward to ideas for

Pendant lights
We have 3m ceiling and island bench is 270cm.
Dining and buffet tables and chairs are walnut
General styling/decor. I’m really second guessing the all white choice( too late to change now) and fretting that’s it’s going to look too cold and sterile.

Hi, I would install three pendant lights. Each, one metre apart, middle one centred in island. It is very personal choice as to what style pendants you would have. Take into consideration what colour tap ware, the style of your home, eg: country, contemporary.
You can add texture and colour with a splash back and accessories. There are so many beautiful white tiles that have an undulating surface which adds interest. The photo attached is an all white kitchen, except for tiles, and it looks fabulous.

You could add a colouredbacksplash. But I woul add say red toaster and kettle and other strong accessories

You can always go with textured glass or slump glass,it has a more rustic look and doesn't look so modern as plain glass, it's much easier to keep clean too as it doesn't streak and there is no grout...we have a very traditional kitchen and it looks amazing,this is my laundry and is actually quite a vibrant purple with dragonflies on it because,in the laundry,why not? The kitchen is more nuetral......

Hi! WOw! It's going to be quite a make over! I think you have a great opportunity to have an amazing light here to rock the kitchen! And if you're nervous about introducing coppper (or any metallic in case it dates), you can stay with the black (which will show up nicely against the white gloss background). Hi Cinthia, Definitely a tough one without extending the kitchen into the living space. One potential option would be to remove your existing island and move it to the other side between your kitchen and dining and add a little L tail to the end to enclose the kitchen a little but still allowing space to comfortably walk in and out. If there is enough of the tail end, of this island, make that tail bench section wider (eg. 900mm wide) and place 2/3 bar stools for a little seating at the island. Unfortunately this wont increase the actual size of the kitchen but by removing the hob detail to your island and putting more counterspace you should be able to make it feel more integrated. Also removing the tall tower cabinets/ pantry and replacing with wall cupboards/shelving units will give more benchtop space and make look more open and less bulky (But will greatly reduce your storage space). There will need to be some trade offs. Good luck!

Oh yes Kate. The whole floorplan as it currently stands is really clunky. When we invite a guest in through the front door, we either have to take them for a round trip to get to the kitchen/dining area, or take them through the walk-through butlers pantry - neither of which are great. The family bathroom is at the entry, which is also shared with guests, which I don't love, but yes, happy to keep it as a WC. The current office is really dark and I hate working in there, and generally take my work to the dining table. I love how you've seen that it's dark without seeing the house. There is also currently no laundry attached to the house. It is in the lower left hand corner of the largest greyed out building to the left of the main house. Although there are worse things about the extensions, it's just a liiiiiittle inconvenient having the laundry so far away from the house, esp at 3am in the middle of winter when the kids have gastro!!! I can appreciate this is a hard ask given the only feel you have for the place are the digital plans, so I really appreciate your grasp of the place. I apologise for not posting the original plan first up. I had no intention of changing the old part of the house (although now happy to open my mindset...within reason, ha ha), and everything else, and I mean EVERYTHING else is up for the eraser! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL YOUR HELP! I truly mean it. You have given us a LOT to think about, and we've essentially thrown out all our original plans we had drawn up! Thank you!

i would choose glass pendant lights maybe with gold or silver fixtures to give light airy feel. white subway tiles, most tile shops have a beveled subway which adds texture but keeps the white. style wooden boards and some nice salt and pepper grinders with books and your precious things. if your budget is tight like mine (!) try kmart for cute and quirky vases, artificial plants etc.

Thank you for your suggestions. They’re really helpful. We are getting white tiles in a chevron pattern . It’s too late to change now. I hope it looks ok!

Thank you. You are very kind. Here is the latest picture after the bulkhead has been painted. I’m left feeling like the kitchen looks very tacky. Not at all worth the 25 grand we paid for it. Feeling somewhat ripped off :(

You still have tiling to be done under window, fridge to be Installed, and tradesmen to take themselves and their rubbish away. Once your kitchen is finished, bring in textured items of wooden stools, and accessories. It will look good. What have you decided about pendant lights?

Your kitchen is clean and fresh and certainly doesn’t look tacky . What don’t you like ? Is it the lack of colour ? If you don’t like the monotone look then it is easy to add colour in the pendant lighting over your benchtop and as suggested the appliances , vases and even coloured handles if you like . Those things will make a massive difference. I wish my kitchen was all white rather than with dull grey cupboard doors that I hate .

Thank you , dreamer and Anne. Yet to decide on pendant lights. Thought to have the dining table etc back in its place to get a perspective on what the whole space will need. I shall keep you posted! Thank you for all your support.
