Cypress Pine Flooring colour

Hi all,
We have recently bought a house and found wooden floors under our tiles. We ended up ripping out the tiles and tiles cement (such a pain).
However, I have discovered that our floor is Cypress Pine and I'm not a huge fan of the natural colour, which seems to have boards of vastly different shades. I have attempted to try and stain / white wash it grey / white but I'm not liking anything. Also tried bleaching the wood which makes it considerably lighter but then it looks like unfinished wood. Any advice?

At least you won't have any trouble with white ant, they hate it, why don't you speak to timber flooring experts to help you with a finish you would like

Lucky you finding wood floors. All the things you’ve tried seem to be trying to lighten the floors which is working against the knots and grain. I think a darker stain would reduce the contrast and give a more uniform finish.

Thanks to nickybaruch I am now considering doing the floor (which is now sanded back ready for finishing off) with white liming with a slight tint colour in it. Some say you have to be very careful when liming. Is this a problem? I would have thought it would be just like putting on a stain? Anyway doing it that way we would still see the grain of the timber floor which would be lighter than the dark cedar it was before and keeping the pine lined ceiling with the cedar coloured beams will blend in well I think with the lighter timber floor and the white walls we now have. What do you think?

I had this dilemma for a family friend and ended up going with slate coloured tiles warmed up with rugs. Tiles aren’t my favourite but carpet is awful and timber doesn’t work with the walls/ceiling. You need to plan for the whole look you’re aiming for. The pine suits an upmarket lake house vibe.

Interersting fact about white ants

Bigreader, think your right. The knots just look to distracting when I'm going lighter. + I'm not liking the faded / painted look they get.

Going to bunnings now to get some brown stains to test.
