Which colours should I choose to freshen up my exterior?

Really struggling with which colours to paint our eaves, windows and gutters with this brick...Any advice would be appreciated. We’re planning on landscaping the front to modernise it, getting rid of the two large plants in the process.

A dark colour that picks up the fleck in the brick. But it looks in good condition so I’d focus on landscaping and any other works you have planned.

I would go lighter than current cream for a fresher look. Need to stick to a warmer white, those with a hint of red not blue. Try fair Bianca 1/2 or even antique white. Or white polar quarter

Top left but perhaps with a matching dark timber garage door. Prefer black window frames to grey aluminium. Be careful it doesn't all look too busy. Balance and proportion is key in a contemporary house like this.

Thanks Anne and I will look at pale grey given the maintenance considerations. I have already paid for a colour consultant who was great but the Reckless grey she suggested for the house render and basalt gutters/fascia and front wall were too grey when we had the render samples put on and while it had a modern look, it was not giving the beach/coastal feel. I will head back into our inspirations paint store this morning to see if I can find the warm grey colours that have the most similar colour make up to Dune, and go from there. Anne you don't happen to know the dulux colour most close in composition to Colorbond Dune so I know where to start? Thanks again and I would love to hear from anyone who has got a dune roof and hear if they tried light coloured gutters and what render colours they have used on their walls.

I love that you have gone for a zinc roof on shed and house. With zinc there is no issues with fading and mould and the matching roofs are enough to match your house and shed. Also it is timeless and leaves more options if you change your mind down the track about wall colour. Like you I am also on a country block and had the same dillema when building my home a few years back. My shed is Jasper with zinc roof and guttering. I debated for ages about painting my house shades to match jasper. Someone said to me.....don't make your house an extension of your shed!! So glad I listened. I painted our house a green similar to coloubond mangrove and went for zinc roof and guttering. Everyone went berserk about the zinc roof and guttering (and the green) when I suggested it, but it looks wonderful!.... and very quality. The brown undertones in the green and jasper brown compliment well. The house also has zinc window frames. You want your house colours to look nice next to shed and also you want the house to catch your eye sooner, but not look too matchy. My suggestion is that you go for zinc guttering on the house to match roof, and introduce a different colour to your house that has grey undertones to look nice next to the shed. Hope this helps. In my early twenties I designed kitchens for my mother and two aunts (Uncle built them and they worked), but when it came to designing my own - had to fit a constrained space and no possibility of extension - I chewed my lips for ages - like Nicole, I drew and measured ad infinitum, and used graph book walls, views etc. I did one extra thing - which I think worked - I listed all that I wanted to store, and tried to analyse how I liked working in the kitchen. Some things I had to settle for because of space (such as a smaller dishwasher) but most of it has worked. We have a corner pantry, which I (and the cat, husband a bit larger) can walk into, but have not put small appliances in there - they sit in a large drawer beneath the main working bench, which also works well. It all looks good to me Nicole and thinking carefully about needs and how things work in advance usually results in something you'll be happy with. Good luck!

I think that the colours that you have , already blend in well . The landscaping should improve your entrance . Will you do that yourself or employ a landscaper .

Surprisingly , I like colour haha -- I'd go Chrome Yellow for the guttering and carport , and go for the contrast with the brown brick and brown roof -- it would add a line of brightness that is lacking IMO . I'd tie it in with doing your entrance door ( especiallyt if it can be seen from the street ) in the same colour . Sunshine yellow , of course , also conjures up images of the sun , it's modern -- oh yeah , like your solar panels ! I honestly think it would lift and modernise the whole look !

BUT if you don't want to be noticed , but still want a bit of class , I'd go for a 'metallic' charcoal in place of the mocca coffee cream , and darken down your look . Doesn't sound inspiring , but I know it would look better and more modern than the current 80's look .

Hard to see the colour of the brick, but a white would provide contrast, clearly defining the shape of your house and lightening the look. Much better street appeal, with a clean and crisp look. I find dark colours on a house to look hot and depressing. Modern doesn't have to be dark, doesn't have to be grey, charcoal or black.. I would go for a spot of colour on the door, depending on the colour of your bricks. If they are cool coloured, cool yellow, sage green, or even a pastel blue. If the bricks are warm coloured, maybe a bright orange, deep red, or lime green. Doing the same colour on the door and trims would be overkill, I suspect.

I like the light colours too, similar to now but freshened up. The windows look black , But pic is difficult to see.
Maybe a modern panel door, would make it look wider overall.
Just thinking that pine bush could be a problem, being so close to foundation too. The garden could do with a look at. ..
Just my amateur outlook..
