Plant of the week Crassula ‘Silver Jade Plant’

Crassula arborescens ‘Silver Jade Plant’, ‘Silver Dollar Plant’, ‘Chinese Jade’ etc etc etc

A plant with many common names and a succulent and originating from South Africa’s Western and Eastern Cape.

A plant with many branches and can reach a height of 750mm to 1.0m tall in perfect conditions. Its growing habit gives it a certain attractiveness showing of its rounded fat green to bluey grey leaves and can be edged in a maroon colour.

A plant that is easy to grow BUT and yes another BUT they are susceptible to overwatering as this can be fatal so err on the side of too dry rather than too wet and never let the plant sit in water. Also keep an eye out for Mealy Bugs and fungal diseases.

If you want to get a little experimental they are so easy to propagate from a single leaf into a potting mix for succulents.

A cracking plant!
