What style chairs for our new dining table?
Comments (22)OK... final grasp at a straw - your set of chairs for when they are not visiting, and when extended family come over, bring out fold out chairs with washable slipcovers? I know how difficult it is when you want to have a room that you like but you are having to adapt it for just for the one-off occasions and not as you would like it ideally. Perhaps that might work so you get what you want (most of the time!)...See MoreDining room styling help
Comments (39)That looks so much better. Definitely make chair covers for the rest. I've used aqua accessories in my room- a throw, some coasters and a leaf shaped bowl for the table which has a silver outside. You can always change the accessories with the seasons (I have a red throw for Christmas time) . I'm also having a dilemma with a large window. Initially I'd wanted plantation shutters in white to replace the dark red cedar venetians which made the room gloomy, but I'm now thinking of softening with semi-sheer curtains. It is only partially overlooked in one corner and the rest looks out onto a wall that is less than 1 metre away....See MoreLounge/dining furniture dilemma - balancing early 1900's home with mod
Comments (7)Lovely sofa - traditional with a modern edge. Will look gorgeous. I think you need to balance traditional with modern but don't be afraid to incorporate the odd special antique piece which will give your rooms a nice ecclectic feel and make them look as though you have collected things over time rather than rushed out & bought them all at once. For example, most entertainment units are pretty uninspiring however if you could find a gorgeous antique cabinet & convert the doors to slide inwards you could end up with a lovely unit that disguises the TV when doors are closed which will also make your small room appear larger. As your rooms are small, if it was me I would keep it simple with clean lines as you have done with your sofa and also soft in tonings. Try to minimise the heaviness in your pieces through legs on cabinets etc. so that they float above the floor. Some ideas in pics below & some shops to visit. Don't rush - take your time & do one room at a time & it will come together beautifully. Choose big pieces first. Good luck!...See Moredining chairs and bar stools for new build
