Period Home Floor Plan Improvements and Renovations..please help
Comments (25)Update on this. We have decided to keep upstairs unchanged in terms of layout. We will live in the house for a period before making any layout changes upstairs - 2 Bedrooms will be for our girls, while our son will sleep downstairs in the living room (now bedroom) as this was seldom going to be used. Now we are looking at the kitchen design - photos attached of current kitchen which will be completely refreshed along with the tiling in the kitchen / living area. Looking for any ideas on how to best update the kitchen - notice under the stair case is not currently being utilised but we would like to perhaps have the fridge or pantry under the stairs to include this dead space. From the kitchen window to the stair case is 4950mm x 3200mm approximately depth of the current kitchen. The stair case hangs into the kitchen around 750-800mm. Wondering if it would look silly to have perhaps the fridge built here and this cabinetry would sit proud of the bench space next to it, but we could also install deeper bench space to balance the look... We are planning to have the eye-saw built in fridge space currently in the kitchen removed altogether....See MoreBathroom/laundry layout
Comments (16)Hi Siriuskey. Bifolds work with your layout, small laundry won’t work with sliding doors unless you can take it the whole length of room. It was touch and go fitting mine in with existing window and door. Can’t tell you how many times I measured depth of laundry. We had to pull of trim from side of window and trim window ledge back flush to side of new timber door frame. So glad I persisted and could get full height doors. Bifolds would not have worked at all for me with door and window and extra width. It wasn’t the only thing I shoehorned in. You may notice the toilet isn’t set back in line with shower, that was so I could squeeze in a dog legged entry into the old laundry of a slightly extended hall, laundry has become my study. Previously laundry had external access and access through the bathroom....See MoreNew kitchen and bathroom layout
Comments (8)I have 2 adult children in each of the bedrooms and my new partner potentially moving in. Within a couple of years kids might be gone. It’s quite a small house and the shower is broken and needs ripping up so if I do that then I thought I’d get ideas for doing the adjoining rooms as everything is old and broken and needs renovating. I would actually prefer to sell and start afresh but financially may not be possible. The walk up breakfast bar is just a half height wall behind the sink so it’s open to the “dining“ room which is in fact just a lounge room. Currently we have the dining table in the family room and I guess it works well. Wasn’t sure the cost of moving gas fixtures for oven and plumbing in kitchen as I prefer a long island bench but if ends up costing thousands more to relocate them then I’ll have to stick with existing layout. Really need more storage hence the butlers pantry is on wish list. I have a brick feature wall adjacent to the kitchen in the “dining” room as wondering about moving the kitchen to have cupboards against the brick wall as I don’t like the colours of the bricks a yellow orange and brown and find it hard to furnish my living room as a result. sorry I know it’s hard without photos but my house is too cluttered atm to take photos!!...See MoreIdeas for new floor plan for bathroom/toilet/laundry renovation
