please please help me with floor choice!
Comments (14)Thank you robandlyn. I am definitely leaning towards the karndean especially for the kids. I might use it for a splashback?? hi the interior therapist. Thank you for your reply. The budget that was put into our build (by the builder) makes hardwood floors an extra $23k. Although the 600 x 600 are expensive to lay it still comes in at less than half the price including bathrooms. We had hardwood in our last house, I liked it but it scratched and dented with chairs and kids dragging their sandy bikes inside. i am worried that I will choose the tile and hate the cleaning and potential slippery accidents in summer but I worry about the look of karndean....... is it very plasticky? I have some samples but it's very hard to tell from such a small piece. Is the tile we have chosen too 'busy' for all areas? Maybe I have really bad taste and it's an ugly tile lol Thanks so much for all your help guys :)...See MoreNeed help in colour choices for whole house re do. Looking very bland
Comments (8)I like the colours you have, it's actually a clever colour pallet, that flows nicely. Greys/cool colours are on trend now, but won't be forever, and nor are they suited to every house. I really can't see a grey against the tiles. Lots of scope to dress this up with rugs, art, plants, light fittings. That's where I'd be spending my $$....See MoreNeed help for choice of Colour/ splashback for Kitch reno
Comments (4)The photos aren't the greatest , but the first thing I noticed is the ( I presume ) timber around the top . You probably spent mega $$$ on the benchtop , but it doesn't stand out to me . I'd personally try for a black/charcoal based splashback , with white and grey veins -- either one piece or tiles . The other option for me would be a slightly orange tinged brown stone tile , again with 'veins' , with white grout -- that is assuming you are keeping the wood substantially as it is , it would tie in ....See MoreNeed help with full exterior colour choice
Comments (6)I'm no professional , just an opinionated amateur haha ! I wouldn't paint the bricks -- the only 2 real options you have are grey ( which has been done to death IMO , so avoid ) , and white which looks tacky , again my opinion . Besides , there's nothing really wrong with the bricks and/or their colour -- they are reasonably modern . Render would spoil the lines too -- it would be trying to look like something it isn't ! It looks warm and tropical , and I like the existing colour choices , with 3 additions -- do the roof in a lighter Surfmist or similar , do the upper wall in a warm off-white , and add some colour , but in the garden -- I'd get a couple of large warm ( red/orange/yellow ) pots , and have red leaved plants , cactuses , yellow flaxes , brown grasses , some with 'desert' toned flowers . I love coloured doors too , but in this case , your house wants to blend in rather than stand out , so unless you are an extrovert personality , maybe stick with the 2 existing white doors , or maybe do them both in a mid Apricot or similar ?...See Moreabaker52
