Start by closing the central Hall door into family and putting doors at each end. This will improve access from entry and to backyard from hall and will improve circulation. This approach of moving doors to kitchen from dining would also help. You can put beams in to transfer loads, short beams for doorways even double doors are not expensive. Get a builder to advise..

any suggestion would need to be based on how you want to use the rooms and where you like to have a dining table and TV so first plan the furniture and then test different locations for doors that still allow useful wall space with adequate walking space ..something like this inclduding a deck and sliding door?

Load bearing issues can be over come to give you a better layout. The passage is a waste of space so by removing that wall and adding a door between the entrance and family and another to the bedroom wing. Open up between the kitchen and dining keeping the living as a Media/ MFR. As per OKL Floorplan add a decking across the rear of the family kitchen and instead of a large window some large doors to open up the interior to it.

I wouldn't make any suggestions without seeing pictures , and knowing about the load bearing structures -- anything can be worked around , but if it costs $100k to get rid of the hallway , for example , it won't achieve much extra space or light IMO .

One thought though -- did you consider swapping the dining with the family room -- at a quick look you may be able to open that wall at the right of the kitchen easy , by disguising existing load-bearing uprights as part of a breakfast bar , for example ? Just a thought on a potentially cheaper option .
