Thoughts on having different carpet shades throughout the house
Comments (48)HU - I really think you should start a new thread on this issue as, many people may not see this when it is an old thread. I've had different colours of the exact same carpet in a house, but there were rooms in between so it was never obvious, but two different carpets together is another thing again. How did you feel the green looked with the off white?? If you were happy with the two colours together, then you could put any colour you liked with it, otherwise maybe remove the carpet from the stairs, although that can then make the stairs very noisy. What is the condition of the off white carpet - do you feel it may need replacing soon so you could match whatever you do now, if it is a carpet that does not look like being discontinued in the near future. You may even be able to match the off white that is there. Another hassle with using two different carpets is the weave and texture can make them look more odd together than different colours. It is really hard to advise you on this, you really need to see the two carpets together, at least it is easy to bring home carpet samples to see just what you can live with. Good luck....See MoreSame tiles in kitchen, bathroom and laundry?
Comments (6)I think it certainly makes sense in the kitchen and laundry as one flows into the other and there is no reason why you can’t use the same in the bathroom. It will be more cohesive. You could get away with having different tiles in the bathroom if you prefer though. It also depends upping what wall tiles you want to use....See MoreSame tiles and stone throughout large modern house?
Comments (10)Our house has the same tiles throughout the halls, kitchen/living, bathrooms and laundry. They are very neutral, a bit bland for me but not offensive. Sometimes I get bored with it all (usually after a good session of Houzz inspiration) but I think it gives the home a very cohesive feel. Our kitchen and laundry have the same cabinetry, which I don't think is necessary as they are quite far apart but again, it all flows nicely. If I were building, I'm not sure that I would be able to settle on just one tile for the whole house but I must say it is quite calming to live with. With the different orientation and lighting through the house, the tiles look a bit different in different rooms eg floor in living area looks almost white whereas in the bathrooms, it looks greyish-brown....See MoreSame stone thought home?
Comments (11)yes we'll my cabinets are like a taupe colour(grey??) dark wood grain feature cabinets. white ceramic tiles. splashback we modified to a two tone grey rectangle small mosaic pattern tile in the kitchen.. the ensuite is a black role floor and white tile wall.. so I'm thinking of if use the same stone a black or grey sink. or black stone top instead. and the laundry is taupe tile floor and white tile at the moment so I'm thinking replacing it white cabinets. same stone and splashback as kitchen. or taupe colour top and white tile splashback or stone look splashback.. but it will be hard to find a similar stone marble pattern tile to be exact. the bathroom is a brown tile.. we are replacing the cabinet to be white and either same white Mable stone top or taupe colour stone top...See MoreRose213 Gl
