Personally , I think the handles are a strange choice in what is supposedly a modern kitchen -- I realise it may be to tie in with the rest of the house , but I would have just gone modern everywhere in the kitchen .

And I have used those same tiles , but had them only going up to about 100mm lower , and then gone with horizontal Subway tiles in a rich red around the top ( so all up they are a similar height to these ) -- my power points were higher , so I went with brushed stainless fittings -- I would have even gone with them here ( if I wasn't doing red subway tiles ) .

It doesn't appeal to me but then again I don't like white cabinetry. If your clients are happy great, it's their house. But this stock standard white kitchen look isn't one I'd choose.

Thanks so much for the comments - so true that certain images bring back feelings and memories! We renovated the bathroom in a similar style, but unfortunately didn't get any pictures to add. The rest of the house is still fairly original, but lightened up with a decorating make-over. A rural property, and a real comfortable haven! Thanks again :-)

Unfortunately I am not a fan of this. I would leave the inside of the cupboards, replace the fronts, bench tops, back splash and handles. The kitchen already looks dated, like it was done in the 90’s. The island just looks cheap. But….to each their own and as long as the owners are happy!then it is success!

I left a kitchen with character, now have a white, small kitchen. I’d rather have room for a table, and cosiness. Cosy doesn’t have to be dark. I over the years, my cosy family kitchen received many compliments, and many visitors, who’d sit at the table and drink coffee with me. It was a kitchen for sharing, much more than a living room with a coffee table. I hate my modern kitchen. All it says is “look at me, I’m the latest style!”

Hi Elizabeth. Sounds like that kitchen you left behind had a great warmth & soul to it. I hope having some of your personal things, and some family & friends in it is able to bring some of that warmth in. 🙂

I’ve done my best…but sitting at a bench isn’t cosy. It feels as though ones in a hurry! Not welcoming. I now don’t tidy up so hard, a bit of ….dare I say it…clutter helps!🤭😄
