What's in your home? Venetians, Roller Blinds or Curtains?
Comments (15)I love rollerblinds for their neat, sophisticated look. Venetians are a nightmare to clean... x) Plantation shutters are worth the investment. Low maintenance and good in wet areas where fabrics/wood may not be so good. I have a mix of plantation shutters and rollerblinds, with a few curtains. :)...See MoreAre roller blinds our best option?
Comments (19)Luxaflex Silhouette blinds would be a great option for you, you get complete privacy at night but have the option of privacy during the day as well while allowing full light. Unfortunately, they are also VERY expensive. Although you want to roll the blinds totally out of the way during the day have you considered the aspect of your rooms? Rooms facing East will have morning sun pouring in which can be very glary even in winter and of course rooms facing West will have all the hot afternoon sun making your rooms like ovens. Rooms facing North will have the sun in winter which of course is not at all unpleasant. As well you need to consider sun damage to your furniture and furnishings. Taking that into account, I think a normal block out roller blind would work well and maybe a double blind with mesh where sun might be a problem. There is a blind company I can highly recommend located on the Gold Coast but I'm not sure if they service Brisbane - No Bull Blinds. I had no trouble with their blinds at all and their service is excellent, nothing is too much trouble. You are getting close to Christmas now so you may find many companies are closing their books for pre-Christmas orders....See MoreHelp me choose a blind colour please
Comments (62)Ta heaps, Jodes. 2 years post reno and we’re still lovin‘ it - it’s so practical and easy to clean. I’d have yours any day too btw. You’re lucky to have a sparkie on tap. We don’t. Our cabinet maker threw in the strip lighting. I thought it was a nice but unnecessary extra; something I wouldn’t have asked for. But like you, I’m so glad it’s there - no working in your shadow. It’s brilliant. An absolute must in any future kitchen reno now. The MW is good but a bit impatient - it beeps too much! We had a 20yr old Sharp carousel, so the new one was a bit of a tech leap. It‘s pretty easy to get used to. We use the combo function a lot, and the rice program does a great job. Wish it cleaned itself tho! Since seeing your fridge, I’ve been on alert every time ours makes a weird noise, hoping this is it - bang - ceased motor. New fridge! Keep us updated about your window coverings. It’s a lovely looking home. You and your hubby have done really well. :-)...See MoreBlinds to Complement Gray Carpet
Comments (9)I'll offer 2 thoughts . First , everything is boring , so leave the blinds as they look in okay condition . I have no idea what your furniture is like , and will assume it is really great , all nice and colourful and classy and co-ordinated and probably designer , and that you have 2 or 3 larger abstract pieces of art , a pot plant or two in co-ordinated gloss glazed pots . So your room will look great , although a little boring from outside . Or change to natural wooden venetian blinds -- I know some people think they are getting 'old' but I love the warmth , they'd suit your place ( I imagine a reddish tinge , like cedar or similar ) , and add a lift . You still won't get away with boring furniture ( well , you might if you add colourful cushions and art and items to distract ) but it will look classier and warmer from both inside and out IMO ....See MoreAudrey1967!
