I love the dresser ! And the bed too . I dream room for a little girl. I would chose tulle or linen to put in the canopy and perhaps add some fun accessories like butterfly or flowers to make it more fun .

Please consider your aspect and the amount of sun and light your room gets. This makes an enormous difference to the end result of the room, do you want your room to look warm or cool? A lot of reds are going to give the room a warm look, as will the gold drapes but for a cooler look you could bring in white walls. However, you will need to be careful of the shade of red you choose, it could bring out the orange in the flooring as could the gold drapes. If you want something modern and contemporary red/black and white can be a nice fresh colour scheme. The room looks very large so the walls could be painted red for impact or just do the wall behind the bed and the rest of the walls white for a fresh look. ideally the sliding door could be replaced with a short window and the other window centred to better use floor space but accepting the current doors and windows i suggest quickest solution is a free standing wardrobe (check out IKEA or a refurbished 2nd hand old wardrobe painted her favourite colour?) on any free space otherwise a built in wardrobe should be on the short wall..an 1800mm wide up to 600mm deep built in or freestanding wardrobe 100mm out from the corner with window coverings inside the reveals and no longer than the window OR a shallow (less than 420mm deep) chest of drawers in the corner with a 1200mm wide 60mm deep wardrobe and the other furniture arranged to suit the sliding door opening

My daughter ran her business from her bedroom until they could afford a 3 bedroom house, their 2 bedder with two boys and no where else to fit an office was a very difficult time which thankfully they all survived. Having your office in your bedroom should be avoided at all cost, as you never leave the office behind as my daughter found out. Your bedroom is where you go to relax , I certainly wouldn't give up my sanctuary for anyone, even my kids. You are there full time so it makes sense. Your house already has enough rooms, except for making a small change to allow for another bedroom albeit small next to the bathroom as per my suggestion, Both of these rooms have space for the boys to have a desk (they don't need a lot of storage being part time) The desk in the living area can be built in to hide an office. This is a low cost solution and won't damage resale value. If down the track you can afford the new deck, try to work out to fit a room underneath as a hang out (media) area for the boys. not sure about WA but rooms like these in some states can have ceiling height at 2100, depends on what name!! you give them. My son is in a similar situation to you, except he now lives in a Studio Apartment in Sydney, so when he has his two kids 50 50 they make do in that space and seem to manage very well.
