Please consider your aspect and the amount of sun and light your room gets. This makes an enormous difference to the end result of the room, do you want your room to look warm or cool? A lot of reds are going to give the room a warm look, as will the gold drapes but for a cooler look you could bring in white walls. However, you will need to be careful of the shade of red you choose, it could bring out the orange in the flooring as could the gold drapes. If you want something modern and contemporary red/black and white can be a nice fresh colour scheme. The room looks very large so the walls could be painted red for impact or just do the wall behind the bed and the rest of the walls white for a fresh look. Hi Stacey, I know you like the white wash look and the photos you posted were great examples of this finish. No one really likes that dark brick look so why not do the ceiling first after you knock out that wall in the middle & step back in to look at the changes. I'm sure you will be tiling before the new kitchen goes in so after this is done your room will be lighter again. The ugly duckling is becoming more like a swan! Colour is a very personal choice Jon-Candice, what one person loves another will not. Greys are very fashionable at the moment, but like everything, won't always be. Are you keeping the brown aluminium framed doors and windows? If so, I would probably go with 'warm beiges' rather than 'cool greys'. Perhaps something like Colorbond Dune on the walls, with Colorbond Jasper on the columns and garage doors. Taking a pic and doing up some colour combinations on an app is a good way of visualising your finished product and sample pots are always worth the time and money as all paints change slightly with the light and location.
