Need help with the downstairs layout.
Comments (4)How attached are you in having a separate Living room? One option is: remove the wall between the study and Living room, remove the doors between the family and the living room, add french doors between the family and study. Tv and media then move into the study with the option of french doors open or closed to allow these rooms to become one or separate rooms. (in essence a bit like a keeping room) The living room and study then function as one room. I love interior french doors because it provides options in how the space flows depending upon the number of people in the house, the amount of noise I want to block, or the mess I want to hide without blocking light. Comments (8)That's a really nice space, and the armchairs are really lovely. Would look excellent reupholstered. Here are some fabrics that would work in the room, and be quite kid-friendly. (Warrick brand fabric, the names are on the image) I'd work with the glacier colour on the sofa, and maybe the blue or green on the chairs, plus do a bunch of scatter cushions. For furniture layout ideas, here's a free PDF with loads of options and a kit to cut & paste your own ideas too. https://mailchi.mp/9c071e61583e/awkwardhome-furnitureplan Hope that helps! p.s. ibringing in the colours from nature outside will also work really well! ...oops very old post!...See MoreNeed help with new layout!
Comments (17)Hi ks! Keep the wall opposite the front door. 1. it gives you privacy 2. it gives you wall space in the kitchen. Take out the right-angle wall coming out from the fireplace side. You'll then have more table/furniture arranging options. Take out the right-angle wall making a 'hallway'. This space then becomes part of the living area rather than a hallway. BUT frame in a door between bed 2 and the kitchen. This would 'close off' the bedroom wing when you want to. And I would love to see a window/windows somewhere along that fireplace wall if at all possible. Your whole living and kitchen area would get so much more light! Hope you guys have some carpentry skills : )...See MoreExterior Design and Interior Layout Design Advice Needed
Comments (2)Depending Regs, L would have both properties with double garages, parking is gold in Sydney, it would also make both driveways safer with better visuals. Th existing house is like small boxes, certainly doesn't need or have the space for a WIP, better to enlarge the living area this is a 4 bedroom house. The pantries could continue along the kitchen wall and would only need to be 300 - 400 deep for better storage and access without having to install draws for deeper 600 to work efficiently, also allows more floor space for the dining. 4 bedrooms with no Master? but a WIP?, I could live without either. The New build I would chaange so that it flows better, Kitchen and Alfresco together next to pool The Master with balcony, that space could be better used as a study, once again like the glass doors opening to the pool done with done with Juliet style glass across them, still have the feel of a balcony. Forgot to mark internal access from the new builds garage , they both should have that. good luck...See MoreElisabeth Zhang
